Many users complain about a strange situation in which their Windows 10 PC resolution is in an undesired state and when they try to change the resolution by going to settings > System > Display , they can’t change the resolution as the option is greyed out. Here is a simple and working fix for this weird problem.
Fix 1 – Update Display driver
1. Press Windows key + I together to Open Settings.
2. Go to System > Display
3. Scroll Down and Click on Advanced Display Settings
4. Click on Display Adapter Properties.
5. Click on Properties.
6. Click on Driver Tab.
7. Click on Update Driver.
8. Choose for updated Driver Software.
9. Follow On screen Instructions to Update the Driver for Your Computer.
If this doesn’t work Move on to the next method given below.
Fix 2 – Reinstall Display driver
1. Press Windows key + I together to Open Settings.
2. Go to System > Display
3. Scroll Down and Click on Advanced Display Settings
4. Click on Display Adapter Properties.
5. Click on Properties.
6. Click on Driver Tab.
7. Click on Uninstall Device.
8. Now, Reboot your Device.
Note that, Once your Computer Reboots , it will automatically reinstall the suitable Driver software for your PC.
Fix 3 – Download and install driver from the manufacturer website
1. Press Windows key + R key Together to Open RUN.
2. Now, write dxdiag in it and Press OK.
3. Note down the driver needed for your display from the tool by clicking on the Display Tab.
Just google the driver name in google search and download and install the driver.
For example , for Intel Graphics Driver Go to this Link to download and Install the driver on your Computer.
For Nvidia Graphics driver Go to this Link to download and Install the driver on your Computer.
Fix 4 – Change Refresh rate
1. Press Windows key + I together to Open Settings.
2. Go to System > Display
3. Scroll Down and Click Advanced Display Settings
4. Click on Display Adapter Properties.
5. Click on Monitor tab.
6. Now, make sure screen refresh rate is 59 hertz. If its not 59 hertz, just select 59 hertz from dropdown and click on apply and OK.
