Are you getting this “To Confirm with FaceID, turn on Assistive Touch” message while trying to install an app from the App Store? Installing an app on the App Store does need your Face ID for security purposes. So, if you have turned on the option of giving your consent with the Assistive Touch button, this message appears on the message.
Why this messages is showing up in App Store?
You can’t install a new app from the App Store without verifying the action using your Face ID. Whenever you try to load an app, you have to double-tap the Power button and use the Face ID to verify that it is you that are installing the app. This level of security is there so that no one installs any suspicious third-party apps behind your hindsight.
But, while using the Assistive Touch for confirmation in App Store, you can verify the app loading process with the Assistive Touch in place of the usual Face ID process. But, if the Assistive Touch is turned off or not available due to any reason, this error prompt pops up. You must turn off the ‘Confirm with Assistive Touch’ option so that you can use the Face ID once again.
Fix – Disable the Confirm with Assistive Touch
You can take care of this in two ways. Either you can directly use the prompt to get to the Settings and disable the option, or, you can follow our detailed instructions to do the same.
Method 1 – From the Error Prompt
Step 1 – In the error prompt that you see, tap the “Settings” option.
Step 2 – This shall take you straight to the Assistive Touch panel in the Accessibility features.
Step 3 – In there, turn off the “Confirm with AssistiveTouch” option.
Step 4 – If you see the toggle to re-enable the Double Click on your screen, tap the “Use Double Click” option.
You may now return to the App Store page and continue with the installation of the apps on the device.
This time, you must use the Face ID properly to install the app.
Method 2 – Directly from the Settings
The more direct approach should go like this.
Step 1 – Go to your Settings window.
Step 2 – Once you are there, open up the “Accessibility” features.
Step 3 – In there, find and open up the “Touch” option.
Step 4 – Thereafter, you have to open up the “Assistive Touch” panel.
Step 5 – Go down to the bottom of this page.
Step 6 – Turn off the “Confirm with AssistiveTouch” toggle.
Step 7 – iPhone will ask for your prompt to re-enable the Double click. Touch the “Use Double Click” function to do that.
Once it is disabled, feel free to return to the App Store. You can install the apps using the double click function again.
Hope these have worked out for you!
