Outlook Inbox Repair Tool keeps popping up – How to fix

Does the Outlook Inbox Repair Tool keeps popping up on your computer? This repair tool is useful for repairing corrupt Outlook data files. But, you don’t want it to keep popping up automatically, even when the Outlook is minimized, and you are trying to focus on your work. This problem needs an immediate because it can quickly become a point of distraction, disrupting your productive workflow.

 

Fix 1 – Disable the PromptRepair value

You have to delete a certain registry value from your system registry to fix this issue.

Step 1 – Search for “regedit” and open up the Registry Editor.

Step 2 – Next, go to this location on the Registry Editor page ~

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<ID>.0\Outlook\PST

 

[NOTE – Replace the “<ID>” with the version of Office you are using. Like, if you are using Office 2016, it will be – 16.

Example – For Office 2016, the address will be –

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office.0\Outlook\PST

Step 3 – Once you are there, look for the “PromptRepair” value. Double-tap it to open up.

Step 4 Set this value to “0” and press the Enter key.

After you have changed the value, you may restart your computer. Once you have restarted

 

Fix 2 – Delete and recreate the Outlook data file

You can delete the corrupted Outlook data file and recreate a new file in its place.

Step 1 – Close the MS Outlook client.

Step 2 – Next, open a Run box and input this there –

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Step 3 – Locate the Outlook data file linked to your email ID. Once you have found it, you have to rename it.

Step 4 – Right-click the OST file and use the ‘rename‘ function to rename the file. Add an “old” or “bak” to the name.

Once you have done this, relaunch the MS Outlook client.

Step 5 – You have to sign in using your Email ID. This way, Outlook will recreate a new Outlook Data File associating this email ID.

This should take care of the issue.

 

Fix 3 – Disable every Outlook add-ins

You can disable every Outlook Add-ins that can corrupt the PST file and cause this situation.

Step 1 – Open up the Outlook client.

Step 2 – Then, follow this path –

File > Options

Step 3 – Next, go to the “Add-ins” tab.

Step 4 – On the right-hand pane, select the ‘COM Add-ins’ to ‘Manage‘ box and tap “Go“.

Step 5 – Uncheck every COM Add-ins there one-by-one.

Step 6 – Tap “OK” to disable all the Outlook Add-ins on your Outlook client.

After disabling all the Add-ins, restart MS Outlook. The MS Outlook Inbox Repair client won’t pop up automatically.
