Scrollbars are horizontal and vertical bars that are present at the side and sometimes at the bottom to scroll contents. Their width will be in the default size, but sometimes this size is difficult for some users to make use of it, and hence wish to increase the width of the Scroll bar. This is possible by changing the values in the registry editor. It is pretty simple and straightforward. In this article let us see how to modify the scrollbar width in Windows.
Modify The Scrollbar Width Using Windows Registry Editor
Step 1: Open the run prompt using Windows + R keys together
Step 2: Type regedit.exe in the run prompt and hit enter
Step 3: A user account control window will appear and click on yes. This will open the Windows registry editor
Step 4: Navigate to the following path in the registry editor
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics
Step 5: On the right side find the Scroll Height and double-click on it
Step 6: In the value data field enter -5oo which makes the scroll size approximately double the width.
Note: You can enter values up to -1500. The default value is -225
Step 7: To save the changes click on OK
Step 8: Now again at the right side, double-click on Scroll Width
Step 9: Enter the same value that you had entered in Scroll Height. For example I had entered -500 in the Scroll Height so here I will enter the same value -500
Step 10: Click on OK
Step 11: Close the registry editor window. And restart the system
Step 12: Open the file explorer and you can see the changed settings and find that the scroll bar width has been changed.
That’s it! Isn’t it simple and easy? I hope this article is helpful. Thank you!!
