Having trouble connecting to your Wi-Fi after setting up the static IP configuration manually? Generally, you don’t have to configure the IP settings on the Wi-Fi page. But, even if you have to change the IP details manually, there should not be any problem connecting to the Wi-Fi. In this case, you have to follow these easy steps, and can reconnect to the Wi-Fi in no time.
Why this error happens?
The configuration of the access contains some vital network information such as the IP address, Subnet Mask, DNS settings. Now, while editing the network configuration manually, if you do any mistake, you can’t connect to the network at all.
Actually, even a single digit mistake won’t let you connect to the internet. So, you should be extra careful while configuring this change in the Wi-Fi settings.
Fix – Manually configure the Wi-Fi
This entire process consists of three steps. At first, you have to get the necessary IP configuration settings from the Wi-Fi settings page. Then, you have to forget the automatically connected Wi-Fi settings and reconnect the same with the iPhone.
Step 1 – Fetch the IP configuration
If your iPhone is already connected to the Wi-Fi, follow these steps to fetch the IP configuration from your iPhone.
Step 1 – Go to the Settings page and open up the “Wi-Fi” tab.
Step 2 – On the main Wi-Fi page, see which Wi-Fi you are connected to.
Step 3 – Next, tap the “ℹ” button, right next to that iPhone.
Step 4 – Simply, scroll down through the Wi-Fi information page. Note down the network information (like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router) from there.
Now, quite that page.
NOTE – If you are not connected to the Wi-Fi, you can get the IP configuration directly from a device that is already connected to the network. It doesn’t have to be an iPhone.
Step 2 – Forget the network
The next part of the solution is to forget the network from the device.
Step 1 – Go back to the Wi-Fi page.
Step 2 – Open the Wi-Fi settings.
Step 3 – Tap that “i” button.
Step 4 – Next, tap the “Forget This Network” option.
Once you deleted the network credentials, your iPhone will be disconnected from the Wi-Fi.
Step 3 – Reconnect the network
Now you can manually reconfigure the network connection and connect to it.
Step 1 – At first, go to the iPhone settings. Later, open up the “Wi-Fi” settings page.
Step 2 – From there, tap the “i” button next to the Wi-Fi that you want to configure.
Step 3 – On the next step, tap the “Configure iPv4” settings.
Step 4 – Next, set this to “Manual” mode, and the further IP configuration slots would open up.
Step 5 – Input the “IP Address“, “Subnet Mask” and “Router” just as the same as you have noted before.
Step 6 – When you have entered this information correctly, tap “Save” to save and continue.
Step 7 – Tap the “Join This Network” button to join the network.
Password prompt should show up on the next page.
Step 8 – Input the password and click “Join“.
Your iPhone will get connected to Wi-Fi network. This time, you won’t have any problem connecting to the network.
Hope this have helped you!
