Instagram is one of the social media applications which helps in killing time easily for everybody these days. On Instagram, you can get recent feed updates from people or pages you follow. But there is a problem with the Instagram application as reported by many iPhone users. The report says that the feed on the Instagram app does not get refreshed.
This issue is probably caused because of the unstable, weak internet connection on the iPhone, corrupted Instagram data, the Instagram server being down, Low data mode being activated, etc. Considering the factors mentioned above along with all the other possibilities, we have compiled a bunch of troubleshooting fixes in this article below.
Fix 1 – Force Close the Instagram app and Relaunch it
Step 1: Launch the App Switcher on your iPhone.
Step 2: For this, all you have to do is swipe from the bottom left corner of your iPhone screen towards the right side.
Step 3: After the App Switcher opens, it displays all the background applications that are running currently on your iPhone.
Step 4: Search for the Instagram app from the list of apps and swipe it upward to force close the Instagram app as shown below.
Step 5: After it gets closed, you need to go to your home screen and tap on the Instagram app icon to reopen it.
This will eliminate any possibility of internal technical glitches within the Instagram app.
Fix 2 – Disable Low Data Mode for both Wi-Fi and Mobile Data
Step 1: Open the Settings app by tapping on the settings icon on your iPhone.
Step 2: After the settings page opens, tap on the Wi-Fi option from the settings menu as shown below.
Step 3: Now select the Wi-Fi network connected to your iPhone by clicking on it.
Step 4: After that, click on the Low Data Mode option’s toggle button to disable it as shown below.
Step 5: You now have to go back to the Settings page and click on Mobile Data.
Step 6: Then select Mobile Data Options by clicking on it.
Step 7: Once done, click on Data Mode from the list.
Step 8: Make sure you have selected Standard or Allow More Data on 5G.
NOTE – Allow Mode Data on 5G will drain your battery and mobile data pack.
Fix 3 – Update the Instagram App
Step 1: Go to the App Store on your iPhone.
Step 2: Select the Search tab at the bottom and type Instagram in the search bar at the top.
Step 3: After you get the Instagram page, if there appears an Open option, it means the Instagram app is already updated.
Step 4: If there is any update available for Instagram, you have to click on Update.
Fix 4 – Offload the Instagram App
Step 1: First of all, to offload the Instagram app on your iPhone, you have to go to the Settings app first.
Step 2: After the Settings page gets launched, you have to click on General.
Step 3: Then tap on the iPhone Storage option as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 4: Wait for the iPhone Storage page to load.
Step 5: Scroll down the list of applications and select the Instagram app from the list.
Step 6: Afterwards, click on the Offload App option.
Step 7: To proceed, tap on Offload App on the popped-up context menu as shown below.
Step 8: Once the Instagram app is offloaded, click on the Reinstall App option.
Step 9: This starts reinstalling the Instagram app on your iPhone.
Fix 5 – Reset Network Settings on your iPhone
Many iPhone users also claimed that resetting the iPhone’s network settings has helped them resolve this issue after all the above methods did not work. So try performing reset network settings on your iPhone and this will definitely resolve the issue as discussed above in the article.
Additional Troubleshooting Ideas
- We have found that users who have not updated their iPhone software are facing many issues including the one discussed above. So please update your iPhone software and after that, check whether you are still facing this issue or not.
- Since Instagram Feeds contains a lot of reel-like videos and high-quality images, it needs really a strong internet connection on the iPhone device. So you have to ensure you have a strong internet connection on your iPhone.
- Try enabling the Airplane mode and disabling it after some time. This refreshes the network connectivity on the iPhone.
- If the Instagram server is down for any reason, you may tend to face issues related to Instagram like Can’t log in, Could not refresh the Instagram feed, etc. So check the Instagram server status and if it is down, try again after a few hours.
- Never make a VPN connection on your iPhone while using the Instagram application. If you already have a VPN connection to your iPhone, please disconnect it by going to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN.
