How to fix ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID error on Chrome

ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID  is a common error encountered during the website loading process. At times it could be due to the certificate error on the Website. There might be many reasons behind it like corrupted cache, permission to play protected contents is disabled, safe browsing protection level, DNS address, etc. Lets us see how we can fix this error below.

Fix 1 –  Enhance protection for safe browsing

Step 1: Click on three dots on the top right corner of the browser and select settings from the drop-down menu.

Fix 2 – Play protected content

Step 1: Click on three dots on the top right corner of the browser and select settings from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: In Site Settings go to the content section and click on Additional content settings.

Step 6: In Protected Content ID settings make sure Sites can play protected content and Sites can use identifiers to play protected content are selected.

Fix 3 – Clear browsing data

Step 1: Press Ctrl+Shoft+Delete keys in the browser.

Step 2: In the Clear Browsing Data window, click on the Advanced tab, Select Time range to All time, and select all checkboxes. Then click on Clear data to clear the cache.

Fix 4 – Reset browser settings

Step 1: Open Browser and then click on the icon which shows the three dots option. this leads to the settings option from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Click on Advanced in the left side menu.

Fix 5 –  Disable automatic timezone settings

Step 1: Press Win + R keys, type ms-settings:dateandtime and click OK.

Step 2: Disable the settings Set time automatically,  Set time zone automatically, and Adjust for daylight saving time automatically. You can select your timezone manually and set it.

Fix 6 –  Modify DNS address

Step 1: Press Win + R keys, type ms-settings:network and click OK.

Step 2: Click on the Change adapter options in Change your network settings section.

Step 3: Select the connection you are connected to,  right-click on it, and select Properties.

Step 4: In the Properties window, select the Networking tab and select Internet protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4), and click on Properties.

Step 5: In the Internet protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4) window, select Use the following DNS server addresses. Enter 8.8.8.8 for Preferred DN Server address and 8.8.4.4 for Alternate DNS server address. Click OK.

Fix 7 –  Restart and check whether the issue is resolved

Restart your system after performing the above steps and verify whether the issue is resolved.
