Epson scanner not working after Windows 11 update – How to fix

Have your Epson scanner stopped working since you have updated the Windows 11? There are different sorts of complaints from the scanner users. While some of the users have complained that the system is not detecting the Epson scanner since the update, the scanning tools are crashing upon launch. We have listed the solutions that you will need to troubleshoot the problem.

1. Check the condition of the cable that you are using with the scanner.

2. Restart the scanner and then, try to scan the files again.

 



Fix 1 – Download and install the Windows Scan

If you are having this problem while using the Epson scanner program, download and install the Windows Scan program.

Step 1 – Open up the Microsoft Store.



Step 2 – Next, search for the “scan” app from there.

Step 3 – Install the “Windows Scan” app and later tap “Get” button below to download it.

Once you have installed the Windows Scan app, open it up.

Step 4 – Select the Epson scanner in the Windows Scan app.

Step 5 – Then, try to scan the files now.

Check if this works.

 

Fix 2 – Do a workaround on the Epson program

You can preview and scan the files directly from the main Epson utility. But, there is a catch to it.

Step 1 – Load up the Epson programĀ that you use to scan the files.

Step 2 – Next, open the scanning portal there. Tap the “Mode” option and switch to the “Professional” mode.

Step 3 – This will give you options to scan the files. But, you may not be able to view the ‘Scan‘ and ‘Preview‘ options.

Step 4 – So, tap the gray area above the “Help“, “Configuration” region and, you shall see the “Preview” button has appeared there. Now, you may use the ‘Scan’ and ‘Preview’ function there to preview and scan the files.

Now, you can easily scan your files.

 

Fix 3 – Automate the WIA service

You have to work with the Windows Image Acquisition service.

Step 1 – Search for the “services” option from the search box.

Step 2 – Next, open up the “Services” utility from there.

Step 3 – In the Services utility page, find the “Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)” services.

Step 4 – Then, double-tap the service to load it up.

Step 5 – Switch the ‘Startup type:’ to “Automatic mode.

Step 6 – Then, tap “Stop” and “Start” to restart the service.

Step 7 – Save the changes. Just use the “Apply” and “OK” functions to save the changes.

Close the Services window. Then, try to scan the files or documents again.

NOTE – Some of the users have solved the problem just by disabling the ‘Windows Image Acquisition’ service. So, if you have set the WIA service to automatic mode, and have not got any results, you can simply disable the service.

 

Fix 4 – Use Epson Scan Smart app

You can just uninstall all the Epson-related apps and then, reinstall the same.

Step 1 – At first, press the Win+R buttons together.

Step 2 – Then, write down this and, click “OK“.

Step 3 – Find any Epson-related applications in the list.

Step 4 – Uninstall any such application from there using the same procedure. Just right-click such app and click “Uninstall” to remove it.

Step 5 – This way, uninstall all sorts of Epson programs.

Step 6 – Now, go to the Epson scanners page and get the latest version of the app.

Step 7 – Install the latest version of the app.

You can now use the same app to scan your files.

 

Fix 5 – Kill any other scanner program

You can’t run multiple scanner programs at the same time on your computer.

Step 1 – You can directly close any scanner program from the taskbar.

Step 2 – But, for a more precise solution, you have to open up the Task Manager.

Step 3 – Right-click the “Windows icon” and tap “Task Manager“.

Step 4 – Look for any other scanning app or program running in the background and kill it.

Once you are sure that no other scanning programs are active, try to use the scanner tool again. See if this works out for you!
