It’s almost a year since Microsoft has introduced the Cross Device Host for all the Windows users. But already there are reports have heaped up from the users who seem to have some problem installing and using the feature on their systems. So, if you are having any trouble getting the new Cross Device Experience Host feature installed on your device, these fixes should help resolve the issue.
What is the Cross Device Experience Host?
It is tough for Microsoft to provide a synchronized experience across multiple devices, given there are so many variations at the hardware and software level. The Cross Device Experience Host is just another step towards bridging that gap. It provides an integrated field for the users to share files, stream media directly from their phones, without having to go through the traditional application-based hiccups.
But, the problem with the Cross Device Experience Host is that the installation of the feature is not that even simple. Even if you have installed the feature, it may show up the “Install Cross Device Experience Host message” on your computer.
Fix 1 – Install the CDE via cmd
You can install the Cross Device Experience Host from the command line directly.
Step 1 – At first, type the “cmd” after hitting the Windows key.
Step 2 – Then, right-tap the “Command Prompt” and tap “Run as administrator” to load it up with administrative rights.
Step 3 – Paste this code directly into the terminal and hit Enter.

Step 4 – Tap the “Y” button to confirm the installation of the tool.
If you have run into any kind of system error during the windows feature installation, continue to the next step to fix this issue.
NOTE – If this command that doesn’t work for you, try force-installing the CDE on your computer using this code –
winget install 9NTXGKQ8P7N0 --force
After installing this feature, make sure to restart your computer. Test if this works out.
Fix 2 – Turn off the Windows Security
If you are any issues installing the Cross Device Experience Host, disable the Windows Security at the time of reinstalling it.
Step 1 – Load up the Windows Security app.
Step 2 – Then, open up the “Virus & threat protection” settings console.
Step 3 – Tap the “Manage settings” option there.
Step 4 – Finally, turn off “Real-time protection” settings in there. Disable the “Cloud-delivered protection” setting as well.
Step 5 – After disabling these features, you can continue installing the Cross Device Experience Host feature using the cmd line process that we have discussed before.
Restart your device to complete the whole process and check.
Fix 3 – Allow the PC to access devices
You must allow your computer to access your mobile devices. This way, it will reinstall the Cross Device Experience Host program.
Step 1 – Open up the Windows Settings console.
Step 2 – Tap to load up the “Bluetooth & devices” tab. On the right-hand tab, you shall find the “Mobile Devices” option. Open it up from there.
Step 3 – Then, turn on the “Allow this PC to access your mobile devices” option there.
Step 4 – Tap “Manage devices” option just below that.
Step 5 – Now, you get the option to add your mobile device to your computer.

Fix 4 – Resume the Connected Device Platform service
If none of these solutions have worked out for you, check the status of the Connected Device Platform service on the machine.
Step 1 – To do this, search for the “services” utility.
Step 2 – Open up the Services utility from there.
Step 3 – Now, find the “Connected Device Platform Service” in there.
Step 4 – Right-click the same service and tap “Start” to start the service.
Once you have started the service, you may close the Services tab on the device.
