How to Adjust the Audio Delay in VLC Media Player

Have you ever faced any audio delays in the video? When there are audio delays we can only see the lips moving, there will be no audio. The audio will be heard after/before few secs. We realize how annoying this could be.

If you are facing Audio Delay, here is a simple trick that will help you fix the Audio Delays using VLC Media Player.

Method 1: Using Keyboard Keys

Step 1: If the Audio is heard before the video, then keep pressing the Key K from your keyboard. This would slow down the speed of the audio.

Step 2: If the Audio is heard after the video, then keep pressing the Key J from your keyboard. This would Speed up the speed of the audio.



NOTE: On the top-right corner of the window, you can see a confirmation indicating how much delay is introduced.

Let’s say the Audio is slowed down by 300ms, the confirmation says Audio Delay 300ms

Method 2: Using Audio Track Synchronization settings

Step 1: Open the video in VLC Player.

Step 2: Play the video and calculate the Audio Delay/Hasten Time

Step 2: Click on the Show extended settings button as shown below

Step 4: In the Adjustments and Effects window that opens, Go to the Synchronization Tab.

Step 5: Under the Audio/Video section, set the value under the Audio track synchronization.

Step 6: In order to slow down the Audio, simply set the delay value in seconds. Let’s say you want to slow down the audio by 5 secs, then just set the value to 5 as shown below

Step 7: In order to speed up the Audio, simply set the hasten value in seconds with a preceding minus sign. Let’s say you want to hasten the audio by 5 secs, then just set the value to -5 as shown below

Step 8: Finally, press the Close button.
