How to fix Bluetooth audio delay in iPhone

Facing audio lags while using your Airdrops on your iPhone? While the reports of lag with the Bluetooth devices are nothing new, there is an acceptable limit to it. If the lag is too much, and you are facing audio-video synchronization issues while using the Bluetooth audio devices on your iPhone. Enact the solutions on your device to resolve the issue.

 

Fix 1 – Forget the device and reconnect

Cancel the pairing between the audio device and your iPhone and reconnect it.

Step 1 – In order to fix it, open the Settings page.

Step 2 – Now, open the “Bluetooth” settings.

Step 3 – After opening the Bluetooth settings page, look out for the headphone or the audio device that you are using on your device.

Step 4 – Once you have found it, tap the “ℹ” button to load up the headphone information.

Step 5 – Next, tap the “Forget the Device” option to disconnect and delete the device pairing.

Step 6 – Now, you have to just pair it to the iPhone once again.

Step 7 – To do that, put the Bluetooth device in pairing mode. This pairing process varies one device to another. You can look online to find the way to put it to the pairing mode.

Step 8 – Now, open the Settings and open the “Bluetooth” settings.

Step 9 – While the Bluetooth is turned on, the audio device should appear on the Other devices list.

Step 10 Tap the audio device to connect it.

Check the latency of the Bluetooth audio device now.

 

Fix 2 – Turn off the Low Power mode

Disable the Low Power mode on your iPhone.

Step 1 – At first, load up the Settings page.

Step 2 – Find the “Battery” setting and open it up.

Step 3 – You can now turn off the “Low Power Mode” directly from there.

Once you have turned it off, the latency or the delay will disappear from the Bluetooth device.

 

Fix 3 – Disable Wi-Fi or Cellular services

Sometimes, using Wi-Fi, Cellular data and Bluetooth at the same time can cause some delay or lag for the Bluetooth device.

Step 1 – Just open the Control Center.

Step 2 – Disable either the “Wi-Fi” or the “Cellular data” service.

Continue using the Bluetooth audio device. Another point that you need to remember, having too many wireless electronic devices in the proximity of the iPhone and the audio device can cause interference.

 

Fix 4 – Update the Bluetooth firmware

Just like your iPhone, the Bluetooth devices need firmware upgrades as well. These updates are sent by the device manufacturer (OEM) and doesn’t have a fixed method to do it. Like, if you are using a Sony headphone, you can use the Sound Connect app to update the firmware of your Sony headphones.

If you have AirPods, it does update automatically when you are connected to the Wi-Fi.

 

Fix 5 – Update iPhone’s software

You have to update your iPhone’s software.

Step 1 – Go to the iPhone Settings page and open up the “General” part of Settings.

Step 2 – Then, tap the “Software Update“.

Step 3 – Wait for a few seconds, and you will see the update that pending for your device.

Step 4 – Tap the “Update Now” to update the iPhone.

The update will be installed on your iPhone. Reconnect the Bluetooth headphones and check the lags once more.

NOTE – There is a signal lag or latency present in all the Bluetooth devices. This latency has reduced significantly with each iteration of Bluetooth technological advancements. If you have a Bluetooth 5.0 or newer devices, this limit is about 40ms. If you are using any older headphone or device, you should consider upgrading it.
