Why Telegram Messages Keep Disappearing: How to Fix

Have you encountered this problem on the Telegram app, where the messages seem to keep disappearing? If you are, and you are in the hunt for the solution to fix that, you have just resorted to the correct place. This is a definitely a problem that you must not overlook. We have mentioned the reason why this problem is happening on your Telegram app and the step-by-step approach on how to overcome it.

Why the messages are disappearing from Telegram?

There are broadly two reasons why the messages are getting removed from a particular contact. If you have enabled the ‘Auto-delete’ function for the particular friend, the messages will get removed after a preset amount of time. Then, there is other case, where the recipient is deleting the messages on the both ends.

Fix 1 – Disable the Auto-Delete function

There is an Auto-Delete feature on Telegram that deletes your messages after a certain preset time. Disabling that should help you fix that issue.

Step 1 – Start by going to the Telegram app and then, go to the chat where all your messages are getting removed.

tap the profile cat min

Step 2 – Next, tap the recipient’s name banner once to open that up.

tap the link min

This will load up the contact details in the following page.

Step 3 – So, what you need to do next is to tap the three-dot buttons with “more” sign. Tap that and tap the “Adjust Auto-Delete” option.

enable auto delete min

Step 4 – On the next panel, set that to “Disable” mode.

disable it min

This way, Telegram won’t delete your messages for that specific account anymore. This should take care of this issue.

Fix 2 – Ask the recipient not to delete your messages

The message recipient, the one who is receiving messages, can also delete all the chats, even on your phone as well. So, if he/she needs to delete them, you may request to delete the chats only on their device.

Step 1 – On the Telegram, open the chat.

Step 2 – Next, tap the small profile icon in the top-right corner.

tap the link min

Step 3 – Now, while you are in there, hit the “More” button.

Step 4 – Later, tap the “Clear Messages” option to clear the messages.

Step 5 – On the following prompt, tap the “Delete for me” button, not the other one that deletes the messages for both of the users.

delete for me min

This way, whenever the user at the other end deletes their messages, your message won’t get deleted automatically.

The messages on your iPhone won’t get touched unless you delete them.
