Does the images and videos are not getting downloaded in Telegram app? Just like on WhatsApp, you can easily configure Telegram to download the images or videos automatically. But, due to some errors, this auto-download feature seems to be not working on some iPhones.
Fix 1 – Turn on the Auto-download function
You must enable the Auto-download function for the photos and videos from the Telegram settings.
Step 1 – Open up the Telegram app, if you have closed it.
Step 2 – Next, go to the “⚙ Settings” button in the Telegram page.
Step 3 – While you are in that page, open the “Data and Storage” settings.
Step 4 – In the Storage settings on Telegram app, you will find the dedicated ‘Automatic Media Download‘ page.
Step 5 – Next, tap the “Using Cellular” module to access that.
Step 6 – Now, enable the “Auto-Download Media” module.
After doing this, return to the former page.
Step 7 – Next, open the “Using Wi-Fi” module in there.
Step 8 – Just like the before, you should turn on the “Auto-Download Media” option.
For the most of the users having this problem, this should be enough to fix the take care of the issue.
Telegram should download the videos and images irrespective of the network you are using.
Fix 2 – Increase the video size limit
There is a limiter placed on the size of the video Telegram is allowed to download automatically. But, if the video does exceed the limits, it won’t download them automatically.
Step 1 – So, we have to open the Telegram app and increase this limiter.
Step 2 – To do that, go back to the Telegram Settings tab.
Step 3 – Next, open up the “Data and Storage” settings.
Step 4 – While you are in there, you have to open the “Using Wi-Fi” module*.
Step 5 – Now, tap the “Videos” option.
Step 6 – There, you will see the limiter is set to 15 MB by default.
Step 7 – Increase this maximum video size to the level of your own preference.
The maximum allowable limit is 1.5GB. So, you can set that to anything in between.
You may now quit the Telegram settings page. This should be enough to take care of the videos and images not getting downloaded automatically on your iPhone.
[*NOTE – Though we have explained the process for the Wi-Fi section, you can change the default constraint for the Mobile data.]
Fix 3 – Disable Power Saving in Telegram app
If the Power Saving mode is turned on for the Telegram app, the videos or images received via messages on the app won’t get downloaded.
Step 1 – Simply, go to the “Telegram” settings tab.
Step 2 – There is a dedicated section called “Power Saving“. Open that up.
Step 3 – In the Power Saving mode page, turn it off from there.
After turning this off, check if Telegram is downloading videos and images on its own or not.
Fix 4 – Delete unnecessary files, apps
Telegram does stop downloading the videos or images if there is an acute shortage of space on your device.
Step 1 – You must check the current storage status from iPhone Settings.
Step 2 – So, go to the Settings page and later, go to the “General” tab.
Step 3 – Touch to open the “iPhone Storage” settings.
Step 4 – There should be a detailed bar in there showing the current status of the iPhone storage situation.
You can take some steps to clean up your iPhone storage. The best thing you do is to remove any unnecessary files or images, videos or anything else.
Once you have enough storage, the auto-download feature should start to function normally. Check if this works.
