Does your Microsoft Teams stops working when you are trying to join a meeting from Microsoft Edge? A handful of MS Teams users have complained of having some problems with Teams app, particularly on the MS Edge browser. It seems to be a typical issue of web cookies on the Edge browser, where the latter is not permitting Teams to use cookies.
Fix 1 – Permit web services cookies
You must turn on the web cookies directly to facilitate the MS Teams website’s normal function.
Step 1 – At first, open up a Run box.
Step 2 – Type this term there and hit Enter.
inetcpl.cpl
Step 3 – When this takes you to the Internet Options page, navigate to the Privacy tab.
Step 4 – Tap the Advanced settings to load that settings.
Step 5 – Then, toggle the ‘First-party Cookies‘ and ‘Third-party cookies‘ to Accept mode.
Step 6 – Later, check the Always allows session cookies option.
Step 7 – Tap OK to save the changes.
Save the changes on your computer. Later, give the MS Teams another try.
Step 1 – If you are a Microsoft Edge user, paste this address in the address bar and hit Enter.
edge://settings/privacy/cookies
Step 2 – Then, turn on the Allows sites to save and read cookie data (recommended) option. Disable the Block third-party cookies option as well.
After making these changes in Edge, you can have the MS Edge working again. Go for the next solution, if you are still having some problem with the MS Edge.
Fix 2 – Include the teams under trusted site
You must include several Microsoft sites under the Trusted site banner on your system.
Step 1 – To do this, open up another Run box and use this command to reach the Internet Options tab.
inetcpl.cpl
Step 2 – Reach the Security tab. Select the Trusted Sites from there and tap Sites there.
Step 3 – Now, what you have to do is to include these sites in the Trusted Sites category.
Step 4 – Just paste these addresses one-by-one and tap Add to do the task.
https://*.microsoft.com https://login.microsoftonline.com https://*.microsoftonline.com https://*.teams.skype.com https://*.teams.microsoft.com https://*.sfbassets.com
While this should fix the Teams app problem, if you are on MS Edge, enact these steps ~
Step 1 – Paste this address directly on a new tab on MS Edge and reach Cookies settings.
edge://settings/privacy/cookies
Step 2 – Find the ‘Customized cookies behavior’ section. Tap Add site option in Allowed to save cookies panel.
Step 3 – Now, add these sites one-by-one.
- [*.]microsoft.com
- [*.]microsoftonline.com
- [*.]teams.skype.com
- [*.]teams.microsoft.com
- [*.]sfbassets.com
- [*.]skypeforbusiness.com
Once you have completed creating the list of trusted websites in MS Edge, expect the Microsoft Teams to function just normally.
Fix 3 – Clear the MS Edge cache
Corrupted Microsoft Edge cache can lead to this problem.
Step 1 – Paste this in the address bar in the MS Edge and reach the Browsing data there.
edge://settings/privacy/clearBrowsingData
Step 2 – Tap Choose What to Clear beside ‘Clear Browsing data‘ panel.
Step 3 – Set the Time Frame to “Last 4 Weeks“. Make sure these options are checked ~
Browsing history Download history Cookies and other site data Cached images and files
Step 4 – Tap OK to clear the existing browser data from Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft Teams should be accessible on Microsoft Edge once again. See if this works on your machine.
Fix 4 – Use other browser
If you continue to get issues accessing Teams via Edge, it is time for you to look at other options. For an example, you can use Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to reach your Microsoft Teams account. You won’t face this problem on other browsers.
Fix 5 – Get the Teams Desktop app
You should consider using the Teams Desktop app, if your issue has not been resolved already. You can get the app directly from Microsoft Store.
Step 1 – Open up the Microsoft Store and search for Teams.
Or,
Just tap the MS Teams app directly to reach there.
Step 2 – Install Microsoft Teams app on your system.
Step 3 – Tap the Get button there to install the Teams app on your machine.
