Fix: Startup issue process1_initialization_failed in Windows 11, 10

Some users have recently complained about an issue where their system is crashing down to the Blue Screen of Death, showing up this error message “Startup issue process1_initialization_failed“. If you are one of these users, don’t worry. Your computer will again startup normally. All you have to do is to follow the solutions step-by-step.

As you don’t have direct access to Windows, you have to use the Windows Recovery mode to troubleshoot this issue.

Follow these steps to boot the system to Windows Recovery Environment –

1. At first, shut down your system.

2. After that, switch your system back ON.

3. Once your system is booting up, just press and hold the power button again to force shutdown your system.

4. Simply repeat this action for 1-2 more times more and for the 3rd time, let your computer boot up normally.

Your system will go to the Automatic Repair mode automatically.

 

Fix 1 – Use the Startup Repair

Windows has an in-built tool that can identify and fix startup repairs.

1. Boot your computer into the Windows Recovery Environment.

2. Once the Automatic Repair screen appears, tap on the “Advanced options“.

3. Now, tap on the “Troubleshoot” option to access it.

4. After that, you have to click on the “Advanced options“.

5. At first, tap on the first option “Startup Repair“.

Now, tap on your account.

Your computer will be restarted into the Startup Repair. Allow Windows a while as it identifies and fixes the issue on its own.

 

Fix 2 – Run a disk checking operation

Try running some disk checking scan and an SFC scan simantenously.

1. Again, boot into the Windows Recovery mode.

2. Once the Automatic Repair screen appears, tap on the “Advanced options“.

3. To troubleshoot the issue, tap on the “Troubleshoot“.

4. After that, you have to tap on the “Advanced options“.

7. Now, tap on the “Command Prompt” to open the terminal.

8. Then, tap on your administrative account.

9. Further, tap on “Continue”  to finally access the terminal.

Wait a while as Command Prompt terminal appears on your screen.

10. Now, type this command and hit Enter to run the disk checking operation.

Windows will scan the device in various stages for bad, free clusters, examine security descriptors.

11. After that, copy-paste this command and hit Enter.

Once the SFC scan reaches 100%, close the Command Prompt terminal.

Then, close the Command Prompt.

12. Now, tap on “Continue” to normally boot into Windows 11.

Fix 3 – Remove the Bootcat.Cache

Removing the Bootcat.cache file from the CodeIntegrity folder has solved the issue for many users.

1. At first, force boot your system into the Windows Recovery mode.

2. Here, tap on the “Advanced options” to access it.

3. Then, navigate this way –

Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt

4. Now, select your administrative account and user account password to get access to the Command Prompt terminal.

5. Now, just copy-paste this command in the terminal and hit Enter to remove the corrupted bootcat cache file from the system.

After that, close the Command Prompt window.

6. Then, tap on “Continue” to proceed to Windows 11.

Fix 4 – Refresh the PC

If nothing so far has worked for you, try refreshing the system.

1. At first, launch your system in Recovery Mode.

2. After that, tap on “Advanced options” to access it.

4. After that, click on “Reset this PC” to access it.

Windows will reset your system, keeping your files intact. Windows will be reset to the default settings.

You won’t see the “process1_initialization_failed” error message again.

 

Fix 5 – Try System Restore

If refreshing the system doesn’t prove to be fruitful, your last resort is to perform a system restore operation.

1. At first, force boot your system to the recovery mode, again.

2. Then, tap on the “Advanced options“.

This will list the additional restore points on your screen.

9. Then, select a restore point when the error wasn’t occurring at all.

10. After that, click on “Next” to proceed.
