Preliminary Fixes

Restart the iPhone – Whenever they are any technical glitches in iPhone, it will create such problems. Therefore, please restart your iPhone and check whether this helped in resolving this issue.
Check the YouTube app server – Sometimes, the YouTube app server gets shut down due to various reasons like overloaded requests, routine regular maintenance, etc. So check the status of the YouTube app server and if it is down, wait for a few hours and try using the Youtube app later.
Disconnect the VPN – If the user has connected to any VPN network on the iPhone, it will not allow YouTube videos to play. So try disconnecting the VPN connection on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN.

Fix 1 – Force Close the YouTube app and Reopen it

Step 1: Launch the App Switcher on your iPhone.

Step 2: For that, you have to swipe the iPhone screen from the bottom left corner to the right side exponentially.

Step 3: After the App Switcher opens, look for the YouTube app from the background apps and swipe it up to force close it.

Step 4: Once it gets closed, wait for some time.

Step 5: Then go to the home screen and tap on the YouTube app icon to reopen it.

Fix 2 – Update the YouTube app

Step 1: Launch the App Store app by clicking on its icon from the home screen.

Step 2: Then click on the Search tab at the bottom panel as shown below.

Step 3: Type youtube in the search bar and select the YouTube app from the search results.

Step 4: This opens the YouTube app page on the App Store.

Step 5: If it shows Update, click on it to start updating the YouTube app.

Step 6: If it shows Open, it means the YouTube app is already at its latest version.

Fix 3 – Uninstall the YouTube app and Install it again

Step 1: Long tap on the YouTube app from the home screen.

Step 2: Then click on Remove App from the context menu list.

Step 3: Now click Delete App on the popped-up list as shown below.

Step 4: At last, click Delete to proceed to uninstall the YouTube app from your iPhone.

Step 5: Once it gets uninstalled, go to the App Store.

Step 6: Search for the YouTube app and click on the Cloud-Shaped symbol.

Step 7: This starts installing the YouTube app on your iPhone.

Fix 4 – Enable and Disable Airplane Mode

Step 1: Open the Control Centre screen on your iPhone by swiping down the iPhone screen on the top right side.

Step 2: After you see the control center screen, tap on the Airplane Mode option at the top left side to enable it.

Step 4: Then scroll down to the bottom and enable the YouTube app by clicking on its toggle switch as shown below.

Fix 6 – Sign Out of YouTube Account and Sign In Back

Step 1: To sign out of your YouTube account, tap on the YouTube app icon from the home screen.

Step 2: Select the Profile icon on the top right corner of the YouTube app window.

Step 3: Now tap on the YouTube account name at the top as shown below.

Step 4: Click Use YouTube signed out.

Step 5: It immediately signs your YouTube account out of the YouTube app.

Step 6: Once done, tap on the profile icon on the top right side.

Step 7: After that, click Sign in.

Step 8: On the next screen, it will show you all the YouTube accounts that you had logged in to earlier.

Step 9: You can now select any one of the accounts listed.

Step 10: Or just tap on Add account to sign in using a fresh account by following the onscreen instructions thereafter.

Fix 7 – Reset Network Settings to their Default Values

Step 1: Click on the settings icon.

Step 2: This opens the settings page.

Step 3: Now tap on the General option.

Step 4: Click Transfer or Reset iPhone, which you can find at the end of the general page.

Step 5: Select Reset by tapping on it.

Step 6: From the popped-up list on the screen, select the Reset Network Settings option by tapping on it.

Step 7: You probably have to enter the passcode of your iPhone to proceed.
