When Apple releases any update, it has to be downloaded and installed on the iPhone for improvements and any software bug fixes. Also, did you know after downloading the software update, it will also verify the update before it starts installing them on your iPhone?
Many iPhone users have reported that after they had downloaded the update while verifying the update, their iPhones got stuck at this point and were unable to move forward. However, there is no fixed amount of time duration to wait until it finishes verifying the update. It could take seconds or a maximum of some minutes. But if you feel it is taking time like forever, then it is time to find a fix to resolve this issue.
In this post, we are showing you how you can resolve this issue where the iPhone is stuck on verifying update screen and not proceeding further.
A Small WorkAround
- It has been seen and tried that several iPhone users have simply locked and woken up their iPhones and they were able to resolve this issue and start progressing with the update on their iPhones. To do this, you need to simply lock and wake up your iPhone by pressing the Power button twice. Do this many times like 6-7 times.
Fix 1 – Delete the Update and Download it again
Sometimes, if the download has not been completed correctly, it might take time forever to verify it. So try re-downloading the update again using the steps below.
Step 1: Launch the Settings page first and go to the General option.

NOTE – Confirm it by tapping on the Delete Update on the pop-up.
Step 5: After deleting, go back to the General page from the Settings app.
Step 6: Now click on the Software Update and wait till it loads the updates.
Step 7: Tap on Download and Install to freshly start downloading the update again.
Fix 2 – Force Restart iPhone device
Step 1: To do so, you should press the volume up button once and leave it then.
Step 2: Do the same with the volume down button.
Step 3: Once done, you should press and hold the power button on the other side of the iPhone till you get to see the Apple Logo on your iPhone screen.
Step 4: After the logo appears, it starts to force restart your iPhone.
Step 5: Just follow the onscreen instructions if any.
Fix 3 – Check for a Stable Internet Connection
Not only during the download but also there needs to be a strong internet connection while the iPhone is verifying the update which it has downloaded just now. So make sure there is a strong and stable internet connection. To check this, open any other browser or YouTube and try accessing webpage or videos. If it is fluctuating, please refresh the Wi-Fi signal by restarting the Wi-Fi router once.
