How To Reset Windows Security Or Windows Defender Firewall Settings

If the windows security app or windows defender firewall is not working as expected on your computer, if it is crashing when you try to open it, then you can try resetting it to the default state. Method 1: Reset the Windows Security App Through The Taskbar

 

Step 1: In the windows search bar, type windows security

Method 3: Reset The Windows Security Using Windows PowerShell

 

Step 1: Press the Windows + X keys together. From the appeared list click on Windows PowerShell (Admin)

Step 3: In the PowerShell window copy and paste the below code and then hit enter

Step 4: Reset-AppxPackage will reset the app to its original settings. Wait for the execution to complete and it will reset the Windows security app

Method 4: Reset The Windows Defender Firewall Using Command Prompt

 

Step 1: Open the command prompt as an administrator. To do that, type cmd in the windows search bar then hold Ctrl + Shift keys together and hit enter

Step 2: A user account control window will appear, click on yes

Step 3: Copy the below command and paste it in the command prompt then hit enter

netsh advfirewall reset

Step 4: This will reset the firewall settings to its default state
