Most of the times user prefer to disable startup items to decrease CPU load of the PC. While doing this i found that many of the programs i uninstalled are still there in startup tab. For example i uninstalled Free download manager, but its still there in list of startup items as FDM in the list.
Solution 2 – Remove Uninstalled Items from the startup Tab in Task manager
1] Download AutoRun from Microsoft Official website.
2] Extract it and Run it.
3] Right click on Autoruns.exe and run as administrator.
3] Now, Click on Logon tab
4] uncheck the program you do not want in the startup items list.
5] Now, Go to the following path given below using file explorer address bar. (Just copy and paste these paths in address bar of file explorer.)
%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
6] Now, delete the unwanted startup program shortcut from this directory.
7] Again , Go to the following path given below using file explorer address bar.
%Appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
8] Now, delete the startup programs from there also.
Solution 2
1] Press windows key + R together in your Keyboard to open RUN.
2] Now, Type Regedit in it .
3] Hit enter to open registry editor.
4] Once the registry editor opens up , browse to the following location.
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Software
- Microsoft
- Windows
- CurrentVersion
- Run
5] Now, Delete the Item from the left to get rid of the item from the startup Items.
Similarly locate and delete items from these locations also.
- HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXX\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Thats it. Hope it solves your Problem.
Thank you so much, worked
