MS Excel users have reported that they are seeing some green triangles on the top left corner of the cells. With this in place, one will not be able to perform any operation on it.
Basically, the green triangle tells us that there is some error in the formula. If you start seeing the green triangle after copy-pasting the data, this could be because the number(or numerical) is saved in the text format.
In order to remove the green triangle, one has to get rid of this triangle. If you see that, there is no real error and the triangle is present, then consider trying the fixes listed below in this article.
Fix 1: Convert the value to Number
Step 1: Open the MS Excel Workbook that is showing the error
Step 2: From the above image, we can see that some cells have a green triangle at the top-right corner. When we look at the data carefully, it is evident that this is not a real error as such.
Step 2: Click on the green triangle. You will be able to see an exclamation mark. Click on it.
Step 3: From the drop-down menu, choose Convert to Number
This method works like a charm when the green triangle is seen on a few cells. When there are many cells to be corrected, try any of the below fixes.
Fix 2: Multiply by a numerical value
Step 1: Open the MS Excel Workbook that is showing the error
Step 2: Type 1 in any cell
Step 3: Click on that cell and copy the value using Ctrl+C
Step 4: Now select all the columns that show green triangles as shown below
Step 5: From the top menu, make sure you are in the Home tab
Step 6: Click on the down arrow below the Paste option
Step 7: From the drop-down menu, choose Paste Special
Step 8: In the Paste Special window that opens, Under the Operation section click on the Multiply option and then press OK
Now, you can see that the green triangles disappear.
Fix 3: Disable Error checking
Step 1: Open the MS Excel Application that contains green triangles.
Step 2: From the top menu, click on File
Step 3: Click on More and then choose Options
Step 4: From the Excel Options window, from the left-hand side, click on Formulas
Step 5: Under the Error Checking section, untick the Enable background error checking
Step 6: Finally, click on the OK button
Fix 4: Disabling error checking rule – Number formatted as text
Step 1: Open the Excel file that contains green triangles.
Step 2: From the top menu, click on File
Step 3: Click on More and then choose Options
Step 4: From the Excel Options window, from the left-hand side, click on Formulas
Step 5: Under the Error Checking Rules section, untick the Number formatted as text or preceded by an apostrophe
Step 6: Finally, click on the OK button
That’s All
