RDP Freezes or hangs on Windows 11 24H2 – How to fix

Having some problem connecting to the remote desktop? Some users have pointed out this problem where the Remote Desktop Connection seems to freeze or stutter during connection. While the majority of the users have come across the problem with the Windows 11 24H2 version of the virtual machines, it may not be limited to this particular version of the OS. This comprehensive guide should help you find the quickest solution for this problem.

Fix 1 – Change the network detection server policy

The reason behind this issue is hidden inside the network quality of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Your RDP connection repeatedly requests for the bandwidth and latency, which in turn may cause the issue.

Step 1 – Hit the Windows+R keys together.

Step 2 – Next, type this there and, click “OK“.

Fix 3 – Create a registry script and run

If you can’t change the group policy settings on the go, you can create and run a registry script. w

NOTE – Though this registry script is tested and serves the intended, you MUST create a registry backup before executing this script. Follow the steps mentioned here.

Step 1 – Download the RDPunfreezescript zip file on your device.

Step 2 – Extract the batch file inside the compressed file. Next, right-click the same batch file and click “Run as administrator“.

run as admin min 1
