Having some mic problems on your Microsoft Teams app just after getting the 24H2 update? The latest major update for Windows 11, the 24H2 update, have wrecked havoc across the Windows user base. The latest problem that these users have reported is of a mic issue on the Microsoft Teams app. This alleged issue seems to give unnecessary problems while using the microphone during meeting or conference call.
Initial Workarounds –
1. For the starters, you can just disconnect the MIC cable from your device, USB or 3.5 mm whichever you are using, and reconnect it to the device.
2. Close and relaunch the Microsoft Teams client on your system.
Fix 1 – Update your Windows system
This problem has been reported by many users since the 24-H2 update of Windows 11. But it seems that the recent patch has fixed the problem.
Step 1 – Open up Windows Settings. Then, tap Windows Update from the left column.
Step 2 – Tap Check for updates on the other side of the screen. This way, windows will search for recent update packages for your system and download them.
Step 3 – Once the Windows Update is installed, you’ll find the restart option there. Restart your device to install the latest patch.
The microphone issue will be fixed for sure.
Fix 2 – Discourage the Computer to turn off your microphone
Sometimes your computer make turn off some of the devices, including your microphone, to save power. You have to turn this off.
Step 1 – To do this, you must search for Device. Then, open up the Device manager from the search results.
Step 2 – In the Device Manager, expand the Universal serial bus controllers section. Now, you must find the USB hub where your microphone is connected to.
Generally, it is the Generic USB hub. In your case, it might be different.
Step 3 – Right-click the USB hub driver and tap Properties To load up the properties page.
Step 4 – then, go to the Power Management section. Uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option from there.
Save the changes there. After you’ve done this, return to the Microsoft Teams page and try to use the microphone again.
Fix 3 – Toggle the microphone option in the Teams settings
Check whether the microphone setting is configured correctly in the Microsoft Teams settings.
Step 1 – On the Microsoft Teams app, tap the three-dot button at the top and tap Settings to load up the MS Teams Settings.
Step 2 – Next, select the Devices menu.
Step 3 – On the right-hand pane, you will find the Audio section.
Step 4 – In there, check whether the microphone option is selected to Default mode there. You must choose your microphone device from there.

Fix 4 – Update the Microphone driver
Update the microphone driver from the Device Manager console.
Step 1 – At first, right-click the Windows icon, and tap the Device Manager to load it up.
Step 2 – Next, expand the Sound, video and game controllers section to find your microphone device driver. Right click that microphone driver and click the Update driver option.
Step 3 – Tap the Search automatically for drivers option to search and install the latest microphone driver on your system.
Step 4 – Sometimes the driver updates are also pushed through the Windows Update channels.
So, remember to have a look at the Optional Updates section for a pending microphone driver.
