Does the mail contents are showing up when you are searching something on the Mail app? If too many of the mail contents appear in the search results, the item that you are looking for can be easily missed. So, there is a way that you can stop your email messages from appearing in the search results. Fixing this is quite easy and won’t take more than a minute.
Why the emails are showing up in the search results?
The Apple Spotlight or the search engine on the iPhone scans and indexes all the files, messages, mails and other items present on your iPhone. Whenever you use the Spotlight to look for something on your device, it automatically shows up relevant items on the screen, sourced from every corner of the device.
Now, if the item that you are searching is mentioned in any of the mails, you will see the mails in the search result. This increases the time to pinpoint your search to the particular item you are looking for, ultimately negatively impacting your productivity. Unlike most of the iPhone Settings, you can take control of the Spotlight search results as well.
Fix – Disable emails from appearing in the search results
You can turn off the Emails from appearing in the search parameters.
Step 1 – To do this, you have to pull up the Settings page. You can do that by touching the ⚙ button.
Step 2 – Next, you have to go to the “Apps” option. This way, you can view all of your apps in there.
Step 3 – Find and open up the “Mail” app to open the Mail app settings.
Step 4 – Next, tap the “Search” option there.
Step 5 – You can find the ‘While Searching’ module there. Disable the “Show Content in Search” option.
This simple toggle controls the search results on your iPhone. So, once you have disabled it, the mails won’t show up when you search something using the Search option on the iPhone.
NOTE – If you want the mails to re-appear in the search results, you have to follow these steps –
1. In the iPhone Settings, open up the “Apps” page.
2. Next, open the “Mail” app.
3. Just like before, open the “Search” option once again.
4. In the Mail settings, enable the “Show Content in Search” option.
You can now get to view the contents of the mail app directly from the search results.
