Mail App Not Showing Latest Emails on iPhone [Fixed]

Nowadays, you can handle all your work through your smartphones and the most important thing is communicating official emails is getting easier. But we have got several reports from many iPhone users that say they are not getting the latest emails on their Mail app on iPhones. It does not get refreshed at all no matter how many they tried.

It is kind of interrupting their work and creating problems. So we decided to analyze more on this matter and found out the reasons responsible for this issue and described them below in this article.

  1. Technical issue with the Mail app.
  2. Internal storage space is full on your iPhone.
  3. Low/Weak internet connection on your iPhone.
  4. The iCloud Mail server might be down.
  5. Fetch settings must have been changed for the Mail App
  6. The email password has been reset.

After working on possible reasons for this issue, we have gathered a number of fixes that might be helpful for you.

Fixes to Try First

  1. Test your Internet connection – Make sure you have an Internet connection for loading the latest emails on your Mail app. To test the internet connection, browse some webpage on a web browser. Restart the Wi-Fi router once or switch to the mobile data network if the router does not work.
  2. Check the Mail App Server and Email Account Server Status – If the iCloud Mail server is down, it can throw such errors. Also, you need to check the email account server whether it is Google Mail server, Yahoo, etc.
  3. Check the Email Password – If you have changed/reset your Email account’s password recently, you are bound to get such error messages. So try logging into your email account on the Mail app using the updated password.

Fix 1 – Change the Mail Fetch Settings

Step 1: Launch the Settings app first.

Step 2: Then go to the Mail option from the settings menu list.

Step 3: Now select the Accounts option by tapping on it.

Step 4: On the Accounts page, you have to select the Fetch New Data option as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 5: Enable the Push option by tapping on its toggle button.

Step 7: Then click on the Fetch option.

Step 8: Now go back to the Fetch New Data page.

Step 9: Tap on Automatically under the Fetch section at the bottom as shown in the below image.

Fix 2 – Re-install the Mail App

Step 1: You need to go to the home screen, find the Mail app icon, and long tap on the icon.

Step 2: It will produce the context menu list of the Mail app.

Step 3: Select the Remove App from the context menu as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 4: Then click on Delete App from the pop-up list.

Step 5: Finally, click Delete to continue.

Step 6: This will now start to uninstall the Mail app from your iPhone.

Step 7: Once done, you should open the App Store on your iPhone.

Step 8: Search for the Mail app on App Store.

Step 9: After you get to the Mail App page, click on the cloud-shaped symbol.

Step 10: This begins downloading and installing the Mail app again on the iPhone.

Fix 3 – Force Restart your iPhone

Step 1: Press and release the volume-up button of your iPhone and do the same with the volume-down button.

Step 2: After it is done, now you have to press and hold the power button on the side of the iPhone.



Step 3: Release it only when you see the Apple logo on the screen.

Step 4: It then starts to force restart your iPhone.

Fix 4 – Enable the Background App Refresh settings for the Mail app

Step 1: Go to the Settings app.

Step 2: Tap on General.

Step 4: Then click on Background App Refresh at the top as shown below.

Step 5: Select either Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi & Mobile Data by clicking on it.

Fix 5 – Delete the Email Account and Add it again

Step 1: Open the Settings app, search for the Mail option from the list, and click on it.

Step 2: Click on the Accounts option as shown below.

Step 3: Here you will see all the email accounts you have added to the Mail app.

Step 4: For deleting the Email account, tap on the Email account from the listed accounts.

Step 5: Once it opens, click Delete Account at the bottom as shown.

Step 6: Now tap Delete from My iPhone on the pop-up window.

Step 7: After it is done, click Add Account on the Accounts page.

Step 8: You have to follow the onscreen instructions thereafter for adding the Email account which you had deleted earlier.

 

Fix 6 – Restart the Mail App and Refresh it once

Step 1: To force-close the Mail app, you have to go to the App Switcher on your iPhone.

Step 2: To open the App Switcher, swipe the iPhone screen from the left bottom towards the upward right.

Step 3: After the App Switcher appears, look for the Mail App from the list of background running apps and swipe it up.

Step 4: This force closes the Mail app from your iPhone.

Step 5: Now go to the home screen and reopen the Mail app by clicking on its icon.

Step 6: Once the Mail app reopens, wait till it loads all the emails from your email account.

Step 7: If it does not load the latest emails, please swipe down from the top of the Mail app for refreshing the content manually.

Fix 7 – Reset the Network Settings on your iPhone

When nothing is working, it could be due to some changes done to the network settings on the iPhone. What we can do now is reset the network settings to their default values. This will fix this issue but you have to sign in again to all the network connections on your iPhone since it will get cleared during the reset network settings process.
