The LocalSend has become popular with the users for its capability of transferring files across different operating system and devices. But, some users have reported some issues around this open source application. The majority of the complainers seems to have problem with the LocalSend app startup, while others have pointed their fingers at the other devices not showing up on the app.
Fix 1 – Stop and restart the LocalSend server
You may have tweaked LocalSend settings or the name of the host device. Whatever is the case, restart the LocalSend server.
Do this on the LocalSend Desktop client –
On Windows –
Step 1 – On the LocalSend app for Windows, go to the “Settings” on the left bar.
Step 2 – Now on the right-hand part, go down and go to the “Network” settings.
Step 3 – In the Network part of the Settings, tap the “⬛” icon to stop the server.
Step 4 – A few seconds later, tap the “▶️” sign to restart the server.
Now, you must do the same on the iPhone as well.
On iPhone –
LocalSend has the identical UI on both the iPhone and Desktop client.
Step 1 – On the LocalSend client on iPhone, go to the “Settings“.
Step 2 – Find the ‘Network‘ panel.
Step 3 – Use the “⬛” to stop the server.
Step 4 – Give it a few seconds and tap “▶️” to restart the server from iPhone.
Later, you can use the LocalSend to send the transfer the files across devices.
Fix 2 – Use the same Wi-Fi
One of the primary requirements of using LocalSend is to put both the devices (sender, receiver) on the same Wi-Fi. The LocalSend app works only when both of the devices are on the same Wi-Fi. You can now share the files when you have fulfilled this requirement.
Fix 3 – Turn off the VPN
Using any VPN service? You may face some problem sharing files over LocalSend while you are using a VPN service. So, you must pause or stop the VPN service and
Fix 4 – Share the files via link
If you’re still having problem sharing them, you can do that using a link.
Step 1 – Go to the “Send” tab on LocalSend app.
Step 2 – Next, reach the ‘Nearby devices’ from the right-hand tab.
Step 3 – Tap the ⚙ button there and click the “Share via link” to open it up.
Step 4 – Now, you will see several links on this page. Send any of these links to your device. Or, you can generate a QR code from the same links and use that to open the website.
Step 5 – You have to open any of these links on the web browser on your iPhone.
You can now transfer those files. Check if this works for you!
