There are a few factors that might affect the videos from playing on Instagram on any iPhone which is mentioned below.
- Lack of internet connection
- Technical issue with the Instagram app
- Outdated Instagram app
- The Instagram app server must be down
- The low power mode is enabled

Preliminary Fixes
- Restart your iPhone – Whenever such types of problems occur, they may not be app-specific and could be due to internal technical faults of the iPhone. So try restarting your iPhone to fix any faults present and see if this could resolve the issue.
- Check the Instagram Server Status – Sometimes, the Instagram server could have been shut down for routine maintenance purposes and this could lead to such issues mentioned above. So check the status of the Instagram server and if yes, wait for a few hours until it is up again.
- Test the Internet Connection – If the internet connection on the iPhone is weak or fluctuating, it can create problems like videos not playing, etc. So try refreshing the Wi-Fi signal by restarting the router. If this does not solve, you can switch to the mobile data network.
Fix 1 – Enable Mobile Data for Instagram
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Click on the Mobile Data option from the settings menu list.
Step 3: Now scroll down and look for the Instagram app from the app list.
Step 4: Turn it on by clicking on its toggle button.
Fix 2 – Force Close the Instagram app and Reopen it
Step 1: Launch the App Switcher on your iPhone first.
Step 2: To do so, you need to swipe your iPhone screen from the bottom left corner to the right side.
Step 3: Once you get the App Switcher, search for the Instagram app from the background running apps.
Step 4: Swipe the Instagram app upward to force close it.
Step 5: Once done, reopen the Instagram app from your home screen.
Fix 3 – Try updating the Instagram app
Step 1: Go to the App Store on your iPhone.
Step 2: Once the App Store is open, search for the Instagram app by clicking on the Search tab.
Step 3: Now type Instagram and select the Instagram app from the search results as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 4: If there appears an Update option, please click on it.
This starts updating your Instagram app to its latest version.
Fix 4 – Offload the Instagram app and Reinstall it
Step 1: Firstly, you need to go to the Settings app and click on the General option as shown below.
Step 2: Then scroll down the general page and click on iPhone Storage.
Step 3: This will take a little time to load the iPhone Storage details.
Step 4: Once the page gets loaded, scroll down and search for the Instagram app from the app list and tap on it.
Step 5: Now click on the Offload App option as shown below.
Step 6: You may have to click on Offload App again on the pop-up window on the screen to continue.
Step 7: It starts offloading the Instagram app without deleting any of your data associated with it like login details, etc.
Step 8: After doing that, there appears a Reinstall App option and you have to click on it.
Step 9: This will begin reinstalling your Instagram app on your iPhone.
Fix 5 – Enable Background App Refresh for Instagram
Step 1: Tap on the settings icon from the home screen.
Step 2: This opens the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 3: On the Settings page, click on the General option as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 4: Here, you need to scroll down and choose the Background App Refresh option by clicking on it.
Step 5: Now you will see a list of applications installed on your iPhone.
Step 6: Look for the Instagram app from the list and tap on its toggle switch to turn it on.
This enables the background app refresh option for the Instagram app.
Fix 6 – Disable Low Power Mode settings
Step 1: Go to the Settings app first of all.
Step 2: Then scroll down and search for the Battery option and click on it.
Step 3: Next, tap on the Low Power Mode option’s toggle button to turn it off.
Fix 7 – Reset Network Settings on your iPhone
Step 1: To open the Settings app on your iPhone, go to your home screen and click on the settings icon.
Step 2: Now select the General option from the settings page list.
Step 3: Scroll down to the bottom of the general page and choose the Transfer or Reset iPhone option by tapping on it.
Step 4: Click Reset as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 5: This will pop up an option list on your iPhone screen.
Step 6: Now you need to click on Reset Network Settings as shown in the image below.
Step 7: In order to continue with the reset network process, you need to enter your iPhone passcode.
Step 8: After successfully authenticating, click on Reset Network Settings again on the popup menu.
This will start resetting the network settings and is going to fix any issues created due to the network settings.
Fix 8 – Report a problem to Instagram
Step 1: To report a problem, first, you need to launch the Instagram app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Click on the profile pic icon at the bottom right corner as shown below.
Step 3: Then tap on the three-line menu icon at the top right side as shown.
Step 4: Now it will pop up a menu list on the screen and you have to select the Settings option.
Step 5: From the Settings menu list, click Help.
Step 6: After that, choose the Report a Problem option at the top of the Help page as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 7: On the popped-up screen, tap on Report problem without shaking.
Step 8: Click Include and Continue.
Step 9: Type Videos not playing automatically on the Instagram app in the description box.
Step 10: If you want to add a screenshot, you can do it by tapping on Screenshot at the bottom as shown.
Step 11: After doing that, finally click Send.
