Windows 10 provides various options to sign-in to the system. One can sign in using a Microsoft Account password, PIN, or fingerprint. If you are using a PIN to sign into the system. Steps to be followed:
Step 1: Open the Run window by pressing the buttons Windows+r from your keyboard simultaneously
Step 2: Type regedit and press OK
NOTE: Registry editing can have an adverse effect on the system even with the slightest mistake. It is advised to take the backup of the registry before proceeding. To take a backup, In the Registry Editor–> Go to File –> Export –> Save your Backup file.
Step 3: In the Editor window, go to the following location,
Step 3: From the left-hand side, Double click on the EnablePinReset DWORD in order to modify it.
Step 4: In the Edit DWORD window, In order to disable the “I forgot my PIN” link, set the value to 0 and hit Enter
Step 5: In the Edit DWORD window, In order to enable the “I forgot my PIN” link,
- Make sure the Base is Hexadecimal
- Set the value to f
- Press OK
Alternatively, when the base is Decimal the value should be set as 15.
Step 6: Close the Registry editor. Check if the required changes have taken effect. If not, consider restarting your system and check.
