How To Remove I Forgot My Pin from Login Screen in Windows 10

Windows 10 provides various options to sign-in to the system. One can sign in using a Microsoft Account password, PIN, or fingerprint. If you are using a PIN to sign into the system. You can see the “I forgot my PIN ” link just below the text box where you enter your PIN in the login screen. With this link, you can reset the PIN and sign into the system. For some reason, if you are planning to disable this option, you can do so easily.

Steps to be followed:

Step 1: Open the Run window by pressing the buttons Windows+r from your keyboard simultaneously

Step 2: Type regedit and press OK

NOTE: Registry editing can have an adverse effect on the system even with the slightest mistake. It is advised to take the backup of the registry before proceeding. To take a backup, In the Registry Editor–> Go to File –> Export –> Save your Backup file.

 

Step 3: In the Editor window, go to the following location,

HHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\NgcPin

Step 3: From the left-hand side, Double click on the EnablePinReset DWORD in order to modify it.

Step 4: In the Edit DWORD window, In order to disable the “I forgot my PIN” link, set the value to 0 and hit Enter

Step 5: In the Edit DWORD window, In order to enable the “I forgot my PIN” link,

  1. Make sure the Base is Hexadecimal
  2. Set the value to f
  3. Press OK

Alternatively, when the base is Decimal the value should be set as 15.

Step 6: Close the Registry editor. Check if the required changes have taken effect. If not, consider restarting your system and check.
