How to Make the Font Size Bigger than 72 Points in Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word readily lets you choose a font size up to 72 points using its Font Size dropdown menu under the HOME tab options. But what if you want to set the font size as a value greater than 72? Solution 1: By Using the Increase Font Size Icon

Though all the methods in this article are simple, this is the simplest of them all.

Step 1: Firstly, select the text that you want to increase the font size of. The current size of the selected text in the example below is 72.



Once the text is selected, click on the HOME tab first. Now under the group named Font, click on the Increase Font Size icon to increase the font size in the multiples of 10.

Step 2: That’s it. You can now see that the font size has increased beyond 72 points. Since I clicked on the Increase Font Size icon 2 times, my font size is now 90 points.

Note: Just like how you increased the font size, to decrease the font size, you can click on the Decrease Font Size icon right next to the Increase Font Size icon.

Solution 2: By Using Keyboard Shortcuts

Solution 2.1: Increase Font Size by 1 Point Using Keyboard Shortcuts

The following methods detail how you can increase the font size by just 1 point using a quick keyboard shortcut.

Step 1: Simply select the text you want to increase the font size of and then press the keys CTRL + ] together.

Keep pressing the keys till you reach your desired size.

Step 2: That’s it. Previously, the size was 72, but now it has increased by 1 point, which is 73.

Note: Similarly, you can decrease the font size by pressing the keys CTRL + [ simultaneously.

Solution 2.1: Increase Font Size by 10 Points Using Keyboard Shortcuts

This method is somewhat the same as the above method, the only difference is that here the size increases by 10 points upon pressing the shortcut keys.

Step 1: To increase the font size by 10 points, select the text first and then press the CTRL + SHIFT + > keys together.

Step 2: You can see that the font size has increased by 10 points.

Note: To decrease the font size, you need to press CTRL + SHIFT + < together.

Solution 3: By Typing in the Required Font Size

Step 1: Select the text and then click on the number on the Font Size dropdown menu to select it.



 

7 Click Select Min

 

Step 2: Now simply type in the number that you want to be set as the Font Size and then hit the Enter key to see the magic.
