Getting duplicate notifications of text messages on iPhone – How to fix

The duplicate notifications of the text messages on the iPhone can be extremely problematic. Though at first glance, you may consider this as a bug or glitch with the Messages app. But, it is not indeed a bug or a glitch. It is a feature of the Messages app. This feature on the Messages app is called ‘Repeat Alerts’. Upon enabling this feature, you will get multiple notifications of the text messages on your iPhone.

This feature may help you in case you have missed an important text message notification alert or cleared the notification along with other useless notifications. Now, while this is considered a feature of the iOS, you don’t want to see duplicate notifications of the spam messages. Fix 1 – Change the Messages notification settings

You may change the Messages notification settings on your iPhone.



Step 1 – Open the “Notifications” settings on the Settings page.

Step 2 – Then, scroll down and find the “Messages” app.

Step 3 – After opening the Messages panel, open up the “Customize Notifications” option.

Step 4 – Next, tap the “Repeat Alerts” module there to get access to it.

Step 5 – Set this to “Never” mode.

You won’t get double notifications from the Text messages again.

 

Fix 2 – Turn off and on the iMessage module

Disabling and re-enabling the iMessage module should fix the issue.

Step 1 – Start the process by getting into the Settings page.

Step 2 – Later, go to the “Apps” menu after you scroll down to the bottom.

Step 3 – Find the “Messages” app in that list. Once you have found it, open that up.

Step 4 – After opening the Messages settings, disable the “iMessage” function.

Step 5 – Next, wait for 2–3 minutes.

Step 6 – Later, re-enable the “iMessage” feature.
