Microsoft Store is the official application store to cater to all the user needs. Though the Microsoft Store store has a collection of more than half a million apps while installing some of those or even while updating you may see this annoying error code – 0x80080206 on your system. Just follow these easy fixes to easily fix the issue.
Fix 1 – Volume shadow copy service
1. Search Services in windows 10 search box.
2. Now, Locate Volume shadow copy service. Right click on it and choose modify.
3. Now, Choose startup type as Automatic.
4. Click on OK and Apply and close the window.
5. Restart your computer.
Fix 2 – Delete Update Cache
1. Search Services in windows 10 search box.
2. Right click on Windows Update service and choose stop to stop the service.
3. Now, Go to this location in your computer.
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
4. Delete all the files inside.
5. Now, restart your computer and try again.
Fix 3 – Reset the Store cache
1 – Search cmd in Windows search box. Right click and choose run as administrator
2 – Type wsreset in command prompt window and hit Enter key
Once you have clicked on ‘Wsreset‘, a terminal will open up and the Store will be reset within a minute.
Open the Store again and try to install/update the application.
Fix 4 – Disable the proxy connection
Some users have noted that you have to disable the proxy connection to the system.
1. Go to the Settings on your computer.
2. Then, click on the “Network & Internet“.
3. After that, you have to click on the “Proxy“.
4. Then, toggle to the ‘Use a proxy server’ option to “Off“.
Once you have disabled the proxy server, try to access the Store again and check.
If this doesn’t work, try uninstalling the VPN from your computer and try to install the application again.
Fix 5 – Use proper date & time settings
Check if the system time and date settings are properly adjusted.
Step 1 – Adjust the time and date manually
1. Open the Settings window.
2. Then, click on “Time & Language” settings.
3. After that, on the right-hand side, just under the Current date and time settings. toggle “Set time automatically” to “Off“.
4. Now, you have to adjust the time zone manually. Simply, click on “Set time zone automatically” to “Off“.
5. After that, click on “Change“.
6. Here, set the date correctly.
7. Next, adjust the correct “Time” according to the local time of your location.
8. After that, click on “Change“.
9. Then, scroll down through the ‘Time Zone‘.
10. Click on the drop-down and select your timezone.
Close Settings window.
STEP 2 – Adjust the time server
1. At first press the Windows key+R to launch the Run window on your computer.
2. Type this run command in the Run window and then hit Enter.

3. Once the Date and Time window, go to the “Internet Time” tab
4. After that, click on “Change settings…“.
5. Once the Internet Time Settings window appears, check the option “Synchronize with an Internet time server“.
6. Then, click on ‘Server:‘ and just select the “time.windows. com” server from the drop-down.
7. After that, click on “Update Now“. Finally, click on “OK” to save the changes on your computer.
8. In the Date and Time settings window, click on “Apply” and “OK” to save the changes on your computer.
This way, once you have adjusted the time and date, exit the settings window. Try to install the app.
Fix 6 – Start or Restart few essential services
You need some essential services running at the back for the Store to work properly.
1. At first, you have to access the Run terminal. You have to press the Windows key+R keys.
2. What you need to do next is to type this command. Afterward, click on “OK“.
services. msc
3. Now, check for the “Connected User Experience and Telemetry” services.
4. Right-click on the service and click on “Start” to start the service if it hasn’t started yet.
5. If it is already running, click on “Restart” to restart the service.

Once you have started/restarted these services, try installing the app again. This should solve your problem.
Fix 7 – Re-register the Store app
Re-registering the Store application may resolve your problem.
1. At first, press the Windows icon and the “X” key together.
2. After that, click on the “Windows PowerShell(Admin)” to access the PowerShell terminal.
3. Now, you have to re-register the Store app. To do that you have to pass these three commands.
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest} get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage –allusers start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
This will re-register the Store app and open up the Gaming services page.
4. In the Store window, click on the “Install on all my devices“.
You will notice the progress bar notifying the percentage completed re-registering the Store app on your computer.
Restart your computer. Try to install the application once again on your computer.
