Many Android users have reported that they are getting the Failed to read data. Something went wrong, check your SIM card or network connection, then try again error recently, when they try to activate features like call waiting, call forwarding, etc. This error happens if there is something wrong with your network connection. If you have enabled 5G network mode for your device, but you are in an area where only 4G is available, then also you might face this issue. Also, you need to let your device select the network operator automatically.
The very first thing you should do is to restart your Android device and check if that resolves your issue. If it doesn’t, when the device boots back to life, remove your SIM card and insert it back. Solution 1: Choose the Correct Network Mode
Step 1: Pull down the notifications panel and click on the gear icon to open the Settings application.
Step 2: On the Settings screen, click on the Connections option.
Step 3: As next, click on the Mobile networks option.
Step 4: Now on the Mobile Networks screen, you have to select the Network Mode for your SIM card. If there are 2 SIM cards, you will have to choose the network mode for both.
Note: If you are in an area where LTE(in between point between 4G and 3G) or 4G is not supported, then switch to 3G.
Step 5: To change the Network Mode, you need to click on it and choose a network from the list of options available.
Restart your device once and check if the issue is gone or not.
Solution 2: Enable Automatic Network Selection
In this solution, for each of the SIM cards present in your device, we will enable the automatic selection of network feature. Let’s see how this can be done in the steps below.
Step 1: Launch the Settings application once again,
Step 2: Click on the Connections option from the Settings screen.
Step 3: Click on the Mobile Networks option next.
Step 4: As next, you have to click on the Network operators option.
Step 5: Now, make sure the toggle button is turned ON for the Select automatically option. If you have two SIM cards present in your device, click on the second SIM card at the bottom of the screen, and turn ON the toggle button against the Select automatically option for the second SIM card as well.
Restart your device and check if the issue is resolved or not.
