How to Enable or Disable Windows Biometric Service in Windows 11

Did you hear about Windows hello? What exactly is Windows hello? Windows hello is an excellent feature introduced by Microsoft to all the windows users. This feature allows you to access your device, or apps with the help of biometric data such as iris scan or fingerprint detection. These are collected, saved and manipulated on system that has inbuilt biometric sensor / scanner. But many users have reported that they are not able to use these fingerprint sensor on their system to access their device. This is certainly because Windows biometric service is not enabled on their laptop. Users who do not have those biometric sensor/scanner, need to disable this service because this can end up using high CPU resulting in a bit slow in performance. Here in this post, we are going to show you how you can enable or disable the Windows biometric service in Windows 11.

How to Enable Windows Biometric Service in Windows 11

 

Step 1: Press Windows + R keys together on your keyboard to open Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type services.msc in the run box and hit the Enter key.

Step 3: Then, Scroll down the page and locate and right click on Windows Biometric Service from the list.

Step 4: Click Properties from the context menu as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 5: Select the General tab and Click Startup type and select Automatic from the dropdown list.

Step 6: Then, Click Start button and Click Apply and OK button as shown below.

Step 7: Close the Services app window after enabling the windows biometric service.

How to Disable Windows Biometric Service in Windows 11

 

Step 1: Press Windows + R keys together on your keyboard to open Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type services.msc in the run box and hit the Enter key.

Step 3: Then, Scroll down the page and locate and right click on Windows Biometric Service from the list.

Step 4: Click Properties from the context menu as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 5: Make sure General tab is selected and Click Startup type and select Disabled from the dropdown list as shown below.

Step 6: Then, Click Stop button to disable the windows biometric service on your system.

Step 7: Finally, Click Apply and OK button to make changes.
