Why am I having problems removing contacts from Microsoft Teams?
The contacts on your Microsoft Teams app is synced across device and platforms. This way, you can enjoy the access to your contacts irrespective of the device you are using. But, this can be problematic sometimes, like when you are deleting contacts from Teams.
The contacts on Microsoft Teams are synced directly via cloud. So, if you try to delete those synced contacts, you won’t be able to do it directly from the teams or the teams desktop client. The only way of doing this is to stop the synchronization of your contacts from your phone.
Fix 1 – Turn off the sync and retry
You have to turn off the sync from the Microsoft Teams app, and then proceed to delete the contacts.
NOTE – You have to do the steps on Microsoft Teams app on your phone or the device where the contacts are stored.
Step 1 – At first, load up the Microsoft Teams app on your phone.
Step 2 – Tap the profile icon in the top left corner. Then, tap Settings to load up the Microsoft Teams app settings.
Step 3 – Tap to open up the People settings.
Step 4 – Turn off the Sync my device contacts option.
After turning off this option, Microsoft Teams app won’t synchronise your contacts with the cloud.
Now you won’t have any problem deleting this contacts from Microsoft Teams app.
Fix 2 – Delete or hide the chat
If you’re still having problem deleting the contacts from Microsoft Teams, you can just hide the conversation on Microsoft Teams.
Step 1 – Reach the “Chat” tab on your Microsoft Teams application.
Step 2 – Then, look for the chat from the account that you want to get rid of.
Step 3 – Simply right-click the chat tap delete, block or hide option to either block or hide the chat, or to completely delete that from your chat inbox.
Step 4 – This way, you won’t see the particular account only Microsoft Teams chat box.
Though this does not delete the teams account from your contact list, it won’t show up on your direct chat box.
Fix 3 – Delete and reinstall the MS Teams app
There can be an issue with the Microsoft Teams application installed on your desktop computer. Uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Teams app, and try to delete these contacts.
Step 1 – Start the process by searching for teams app from the taskbar. Right-click the Microsoft Teams app in the search results, and tap Uninstall.
Step 2 – Then, click Uninstall once more to start the uninstallation process.
There’s nothing to worry about losing your data. You can retrieve all your chat data simply by reinstalling the teams app on your device.
Step 3 – You can either download the setup file from Microsoft Teams website or, you can directly install the Teams app from Microsoft Store.
