Can’t find the translation button for the chats migrated from Skype on your Microsoft Teams app? There is a native translation feature available on Microsoft Teams application that users can use to translate chat messages. While Microsoft Teams does allow users to translate messages in a variety of language, some of the users have faced problem translating the older chats of Skype on the Microsoft Teams application.
Fix 1 – Chat translation not available
Even before ending the tenure of Skype, Microsoft had already started migrating all the chats into Microsoft Teams. But, there seems to be many compatibility issues in this migration process. One of the key issues is that limitation of the translation feature of the older Skype chats all the Microsoft Teams app.
There is no straightforward way of translating the older Skype chats that have migrated already to your new teams account. Although, the translation feature will be available for any newer chat initiated on the Microsoft Teams app.
Fix 2 – Use the MS Teams desktop client
You should try translating the chats from the Microsoft team desktop client.
Step 1 – Get the setup file from Microsoft Teams website or, you can directly install the Teams app from Microsoft Store.
Step 2 – Once you have installed the Teams app, log in using the same Skype credentials that you were using before.
Step 3 – Open up the chat in question in the Desktop client. Then, right-click the chat and tap “Translation” option to translate the chat.
Step 4 – Tap the “Translate” option to translate the chat messages.
This way, you can directly translate the chat conversations that you need.
Fix 3 – Use Google Translate
If you really need to translate the chats, and they are not sensitive, you can use third party services to translate the chats. You may use almost any popular tool to do this. Like, Google Translate is an excellent tool to do this. Otherwise, feel free to use any chatbots like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Deep Seek or any other to translate the chat messages.
Hope these fixes have helped you solve the issue.
