Some MS Teams users can’t seem to locate their meeting recordings. Microsoft Teams let selective users record online meetings, which gets saved in their respective OneDrive/SharePoint directory. But, some users have face difficulty locating these recording files in their respective OneDrive. This can easily put even veteran users in discomfort, if they can’t locate the recording of an important meeting. There have been some changes in the default save location of the recorded meetings, and here are some resolutions to help you fix it.
Fix 1 – Look in the OneDrive/SharePoint directory
The default storage location for the recordings has changed from Stream to OneDrive.
Step 1 – You can find the regular teams recording in your Microsoft account OneDrive –
OneDrive/My files/Recordings
Step 2 – The other channel teams recordings are stored here –
SharePoint/Recordings/<team channel>
Step 3 – You can also access the recordings following this path –
Team ⇾ Files ⇾ Recordings
Step 4 – Refresh these folders once and try to locate the meeting recordings there.
You will find the recording of those meetings there.
Fix 2 – Check Recording Permissions
The recording of the meeting may exist, but your account may not have proper clearance to view or access it. So, you may have to ask the meeting organizer to share it properly with you.
Step 1 – Ask the meeting organizer to load up the recording file in the OneDrive.
Step 2 – Then, right-click the recorded meeting file there, and tap Share.
Step 3 – Now, either you can share the meeting recording with Everyone, or your account (email ID associated to MS Teams).
You will now get the access to the Teams meetings.
Fix 3 – Sign out to Refresh MS Teams tokens
Sometimes due to Teams tokens synchronization delay, even if the recording exists, it may not appear on the Teams client.
Step 1 – To do this, tap the profile button on Microsoft Teams, and tap Sign out.
Step 2 – A warning message will come up. So, tap Sign out to sign out of the account.
Step 3 – After signing out from the Microsoft Teams account, close the app.
Step 4 – Tap the arrow button in the taskbar. Then, find the Microsoft Teams app there. Right-click that and tap Quit Teams.
Step 5 – Next, relaunch the Microsoft Teams client once again. Log in using proper credentials.
Fix 4 – Try the Teams web client
You may be able to access the recordings directly from the Microsoft Teams web client.
Step 1 – Open up Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Step 2 – Load up the Teams.
Step 3 – Tap the Sign in button at the right-top corner.
Then, try to get access to the meeting recordings directly from the Files section.
Fix 5 – Contact the IT Administrator
Your IT administrator has the capability of resolving this problem using the meeting URL and date to find the root cause that has caused this disappearance of the teams meeting recordings.
(Steps to be done by the IT Administrator)-
Step 1 – Sign in to Microsoft 365 Admin Center with proper credentials.
Step 2 – Go to the Need Help section and type this Diag: Missing Recording phrase.
Step 3 – Input the meeting URL and date. Then, run the diagnostics tool to identify the root cause of this issue and troubleshoot it.
This way, you can locate the existing teams meetings recordings from your OneDrive Sharepoint drives.
