Can’t see your Skype dial on the Microsoft Teams app? Microsoft has officially retired their Skype app in May 2025, and replaced it with the Microsoft Teams app. While the transition off the app was necessary, it cannot be called a very smooth experience for the old Skype subscription holders. Some of the Skype users I’ve complained not to find the Skype dial pad on the Microsoft Teams application. If that is the case with you, this guide will help you to troubleshoot the problem.
Why Microsoft Teams is not showing up the Skype dial?
Microsoft Teams doesn’t actually have a dial pad to begin with. Skype, why on the other hand, does come with a dial pad inbuilt. This allows users to make a call based on a number, while Microsoft Teams users depends upon the web address to contact. Now, once Skype is retired in May 2025, Microsoft has introduced a separate Skype dial pad only for a handful of users.
Only the Skype users, who have valid credit or an active Skype subscription plan, will have access to Skype dial pad. This means, if you have recently purchased Skype credits, the Skype dial pad will show up on your Microsoft Teams app.
Fix 1 – Use the Skype dial pad on web
instead of using the Skype dial pad on Microsoft Teams app, you can directly access the Skype dial pad on the website.
Step 1 – Open up a browser of your choice. Then, visit the Skype dial pad on the web.
Step 2 – Now, you must be logged in using your proper Skype credentials. Otherwise, it will just show up this message –
You don't have any active paid products right now.
Step 3 – Here, you can use this dial pad to dial up numbers to make a call. This dial pad serves the same purpose.
This way, you can easily conduct Skype calls using your remaining Skype credits. You can do this from your smartphone as well.
But you must remember that this style pad on web will work only till you have Skype credits or subscription plan active on your account.
Fix 2 – Use the same account on Skype and Teams
The contradiction between your Skype account and Microsoft Teams account can cause this problem where you will not see the Skype dial pad on Microsoft Teams. The only way to solve this problem is to log in using the same Skype account on your Microsoft Teams. This means, that you must use the same credentials off the Skype app on the Microsoft Teams app to login.
On the other hand, you must make sure that the Microsoft Teams app that you’re using is updated to the latest version. To do this, follow the steps—
Step 1 – Microsoft Teams does automatically download the updates in the app. So launch the application on your computer.
Step 2 – Tap the three dot button on the top and then click Update and Restart option to update the application.
Finally, when the Microsoft Teams is updated, the Skype dial pad will show up properly.
Fix 3 – Skype data transfer process is slow
Microsoft has discontinued their Skype services from the month of May 2025. They have allowed the previous Skype users or subscription holder to port to the Microsoft Teams app. They have explained that all the users’ old chats will be ported to the Microsoft Teams application. But, since the volume of these chats and the number of Skype users is huge, it is taking a bit more time for them to port off all of them to Teams app.
So, the Skype dial pad will be accessible to all the respective users eventually, but it will some time.
Hope these fixes have helped you resolve the issues with the Skype dial pad.
