Riot Client is the door to all the Riot Games’ offerings to its extensive user base. So, whether you are a League of Legends player or the one who loves to be a Yoru main on Valorant, you can’t launch the game without having access to the Riot Client launcher. So, if you can’t load up the Riot Client on your machine, these solutions will help you out.
Fix 1 – Turn off the full screen optimizations for Riot Client
Turning off the full screen optimizations for the Riot Client may solve the problem.
Step 1 – At first, right-click the Windows button.
Step 2 – Next, tap the “Task Manager” to load up the Task Manager.
Step 3 – Search for the “riot” term using the search box.
Step 4 – As this filters the search outputs, you have to kill all the Riot processes. If you see any Riot processes, right-tap the Riot process and tap “End task” to kill it.
Step 5 – Close the Task Manager and locate the “Riot Client” on your desktop.
Step 6 – Right-click the “Riot Client” and tap “Properties“.
Step 7 – Next, go to the “Compatibility” tab.
Step 8 – Check the “Run this program as an administrator” and tick mark the “Disable full-screen optimizations” module.
Step 9 – Save the changes using ‘Apply‘ and ‘OK‘ button.
After you have changed these settings, try launching the Riot client. Check if this works.
Fix 2 – Exit the Riot Client and relaunch
You can just quit the Riot client, running in the system tray, and relaunch the client app afresh.
Step 1 – On the task bar of Windows, tap the arrow head to view the system tray icons.
Step 2 – Then, right-click the riot icon there and tap “Exit” to quit the Riot client.
After you have closed it, you can launch it again from the start menu or using the desktop shortcut.
Check if this works or not.
Fix 3 – Allow the Riot Client through WD Firewall
There is a chance that the firewall is blocking internet access to the Riot client.
Step 1 – To do this, you must get the root location of the Riot client.
Step 2 – So, type the “Riot client” in the search box.
Step 3 – Next, right-click the “Riot client” and tap “Open file location“.
Step 4 – Normally this should lead you to the Riot client shortcut location.
Step 5 – Next, right-click the same “Riot client” and tap “Open file location” button.
Step 6 – Copy the address of the Riot client.
Step 7 – Next, press the Win+R keys at once.
Step 8 – Write this term in there and finally, tap “OK” to load up the Firewalls page.
firewall.cpl
Step 9 – Tap the “Allow an app through Windows Defender Firewall” option.
Step 10 – Tap “Change Settings“.
Step 11 – Now, tap the “Browse” button.
