It is the Settings app which allows users to set / change the preferences and customize windows settings as per their requirement. Settings app is the major component in the Windows operating system which directs you to almost all the system settings like sound, apps, network, accounts etc. So for beginners, in this article we are going to guide you on how to launch settings app on Windows 11 system in many ways.
Method 1: From Keyboard
To open Settings app
Press Win + I keys together on your keyboard as shown below.
Settings app will be launched on your laptop.
Method 2: Via Start Menu
Step 1: Open Start menu
Click on Start button on the taskbar as shown below.
Step 2: In the Start menu
Click on Settings button under Pinned apps as shown below.
This launches Settings app on your system.
Method 3: Using Run Dialog Box
Step 1: To open Run dialog box
Press Win + R keys together on your keyboard.
Step 2: In the Run dialog box
Type ms-settings: and hit Enter key.
This will launch the Settings app on your system.
Method 4: From Action Center
Step 1: Open the Action Center
Press Win + A keys together on your keyboard.
Step 2: In the Action center
Click on Settings icon at the bottom right corner as shown in the below image.
This will open up Settings app in windows laptop.
Method 5: From WinX menu
Step 1: Open WinX menu
Press Win + X keys together on your keyboard.
Step 2: In the WinX menu
Click Settings from the list.
This will start the Settings app on your laptop
Method 6: Using Command Prompt
Step 1: Open Command Prompt
Press Win + R keys together to open Run box.
Type cmd and hit Enter key.
Step 2: In the Command prompt
Type start ms-settings: and hit Enter key.
This will open Settings app window from command prompt on your laptop.
Method 7: From Windows Search
To open Windows menu, Press Win key on your keyboard and type Settings.
Then, Click on Settings app from the search results as shown below.
This will open up Settings app window on your system.
Method 8: Through File Explorer
Step 1: Open File Explorer
Press Win + E keys together on your keyboard.
Step 2: In the File Explorer
Type ms-settings: in the address bar and hit Enter key.
This way you can launch Settings app on your system
Method 9: Using Task Manager
Step 1: Open Task Manager
Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC keys together on your keyboard.
Step 2: In the Task Manager
Go to File and Click on Run new task.
Step 3: In the Create new task window
Type ms-settings: in the Open TextField.
Then, Click OK to open Settings app.
This opens the Settings app window on your laptop.
Method 10: Through Control Panel
Step 1: Open Run Dialog box
Press Win + R keys together on your keyboard.
Step 2: In the Run box
Type control and hit Enter key.
Step 3: Click on System and Security in control panel
Step 4: In the System and Security page
Click on System.
This opens the System settings in the Settings app.
From there you can explore other settings also.
Method 11: By Pinning to Start / Taskbar
Step 1: Open Start Menu
Press Win key on your keyboard and type settings.
Step 2: Then, Click Pin to Start and Pin to taskbar as shown below.
Step 3: Next, Press Win key to open Start menu
You can observe that Settings icon is present in the Start menu under Pinned Apps and also on the Taskbar.
By Clicking settings icon from pinned apps or taskbar, you can open the Settings app.
Method 12: From Desktop
Go to Desktop and Right Click on the Desktop screen.
Then, you can either click Display settings or Personalize from the context menu.
This will take you to the Settings app window from where you can change other settings as well.
Method 13: Through Windows PowerShell
Step 1: Open Windows PowerShell
Press Win key on your keyboard and type powershell.
Hit Enter key.
Step 2: In the PowerShell window
Type start ms-settings: and hit Enter key.
This will open up Settings app on your laptop.
Method 14: From Settings app shortcut on Desktop
Step 1: Create Settings app shortcut on desktop
Go to Desktop and right click on it.
Then, Click on New > Shortcut from the context menu.
Step 2: In the shortcut window
Type ms-settings: in the location textfield.
Then, Click Next to proceed.
Step 3: Then, Give an appropriate name to the shortcut (eg:- Settings shortcut)
Click Finish to create settings app shortcut on Desktop.
Step 4: This will create a Settings Shortcut icon on the Desktop as shown below.
To open the Settings app, just double click the Shortcut icon and Settings app is opened on your system.
Method 15: From System Tray icon settings
Step 1: Right-Click on any of the System tray icons (eg:- Network , Volume or Battery icon).
Step 2: Select settings option from the context menu.
For example, we have right-clicked on the battery icon from system tray on taskbar.
Select the Power and sleep settings from the context menu.
This will open the Settings app for Power and Sleep settings and from there you can access other settings also.
Method 16: Via Taskbar Settings
Right-Click on Taskbar and select the Taskbar settings from the context menu.
This will open up Taskbar settings in the Settings app window.
