iPhone wireless charging is not working: Fix

For most of the iPhone users, wireless charging the iPhone has become something of a habit. But, what if you place your iPhone on the wireless charger pad, but it doesn’t start to charge? Just like the normal charging process, the wireless charger can also fail to work properly.

 

Fix 1 – Restart the iPhone and retry charging

The most basic workaround that can works for the most of the affected users is just a simple iPhone reboot.

Step 1 – iPhone doesn’t offer a simple way to restart itself. So, just swipe down from the top to see the Control Center.

Step 2 – In the Control Center, hold down the Power button in there.

Step 3 – In there, do slide the slider in the ‘Slide to power off’ option to power off the iPhone.

When you do this, your iPhone will get turned off.

Step 4 – When the iPhone does get switched off, press-hold the Power button until the iPhone boots up.

When it does restart, place the iPhone on the wireless charger and see whether it is charging or not.

 

Fix 2 – Try hard resetting the iPhone

If you can’t use the wireless charger even after restarting the iPhone, you must hard reset it and retry.

Step 1 – At first, just hit the Volume + button once.

Step 2 – Next, press and release the Volume – button again.

Step 3 – Finally, what you have to do is to press-hold the Power button until the iPhone reboots. While pressing the power button, eventually, you will see the

 

Fix 3 – Clean up the wireless charger

The Wireless charger can accumulate dust or other foreign elements. Sometimes, a thin layer of oil or dust can get stuck on the wireless charger.

Step 1 – Inspect the wireless charger carefully.

Step 2 – Use a clean microfiber cloth to clear up any dust or other foreign particle from the surface of the wireless (the surface where you place the iPhone to charge) charger.

Step 3 – Once you have cleared it, place the iPhone to start charging the device.

See whether the battery meter is going up or not.

 

Fix 4 – Remove the charger from the iPhone

The basic principle of wireless charging requires for the iPhone’s surface to be near the charging coil. So, if you are using your iPhone with a hard, thick case, the wireless charger can’t charge the device or adversely affect the charging process.



Step 1 – Remove the hard case from the iPhone.

Step 2 – Place the iPhone on the wireless charger and let it charge the device.

Take a look at the progress bar to track the charging speed on your iPhone.

Additional Fixes

1. Wireless chargers do wear out your iPhone’s battery. So, if  you can’t use the wireless charger, plug in to the wired charger and charge it.

2. Check the charger. Place other wireless charger supported items on the wireless charger to charger it.
