Is the incoming ringtone is too loud while you are using AirPods? If that is the case, the loud ringtone can be painful for your ears and make you unplug the AirPods immediately. Normally, the iPhone tones down the incoming call volume significantly while you are using a Bluetooth headset, for your ears. Follow these solutions to fix it.
Why this is happening on your iPhone?
iPhone can reduce the loud audio on your device. Now, if the feature is not enabled, the ringtone may become very loud, even while using the headphones with your iPhone. Apart from this, there are some additional headphone features that can affect the ringtone level. We have explained all of them in details and their resolution to troubleshoot it.
Fix 1 – Turn on the Reduce Loud Audio
There is a feature on your iPhone that can make the iPhone attentive to certain gestures or movement.
Step 1 – Unlock the iPhone and look at the Home Screen.
Step 2 – Now, look for the “⚙” in there. Tap that to open the iPhone Settings.
Step 3 – In there, open up the “Sound & Haptics” settings.
Step 4 – Scroll down to the ‘HeadPhone Audio‘ section. Thereafter, go to the “Headphone Safety” option.
Step 5 – After going there, find the “Reduce Loud Audio” option. You should turn that On.
Now, this will show you the permissible sound level on your iPhone. All the sound level that exceeds that threshold value will automatically be tuned down. So, set the limiter correctly.
Once you have done this, all the sounds, including your ringtone, will be lowered down below the preset level. This works irrespective of the volume of your headphone.
NOTE – Your experience with your AirPods or headphones may get affected. You can disable the ‘Reduce Loud Audio’ feature if you are having too much problem.
Fix 2 – Change the ringtone
You can set a mild, toned down ringtone on your iPhone. This way, even if the iPhone rings up while you were using the headphone, the ringtone won’t be too problematic.
Step 1 – At first, go to the iPhone Settings on your device.
Step 2 – Then, go to the “Sound & Haptics” section of your Settings.
Step 3 – Open the “Ringtone” part of the Settings.
Inside there, you will see the list of available ringtone. Go through the entire list one-by-one and find a low volume, soft, low-tone ringtone.
Step 4 – Select such ringtone from the list.
Once you have assigned such a ringtone, you won’t face that problem again.
Fix 3 – Unpair the device and pair it
If the problem is happening with a particular headphone, you should delete the device, and connect it to the iPhone again.
Step 1 – Go to iPhone Settings.
Step 2 – After this, open up the “Bluetooth” settings.
Step 3 – While you are in the Bluetooth settings page, look for the headphone that is giving you the problem.
Step 4 – Tap the small information (ℹ) to open it.
Step 5 – After opening the device settings, use the “Forget This Device” option.
Step 6 – After removing the device, turn on the Bluetooth on your iPhone.
Step 7 – Later, put the headphone in pairing mode and reconnect it.
Once the headphone is reconnected, the incoming call won’t be too loud for you.
Hope these fixes your issue.
