Google Chrome is a popular browser that is loved and appreciated by users. However, many users have reported seeing a bug while watching the videos on social media platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram. The videos are displayed with a greenish-purple hue.
The browsers use a video card to display the GPU-accelerated videos. When the Chrome GPU process ends abruptly, the users notice green and purple colored-hue on the videos.
If you’re noticing this issue, try opening the video in some other browser. If you see that the video is displaying properly, it tells us that the issue is with Chrome. In that case, try out the below-mentioned fixes to overcome the problem.
Fix 1: Disable hardware acceleration in Chrome
Step 1: Open a Chrome Browser window.
Step 2: In the search bar located at the top, enter the below address and press Enter.

Step 3: In the search bar located at the top, enter the search key hardware-accelerated video decode and hit Enter as shown below.
Step 4: From the context manager, choose Disabled.
Step 5: Now, click on the Relaunch button to relaunch the application.
Check if this helps. If not try out the next fix.
Fix 2: Enable Software acceleration in Chrome
If the hardware acceleration is disabled and you’re seeing the issue, try disabling it.
Step 1: Open a Google Chrome Browser window.
Step 2: In the search bar, enter the below address and press Enter.

Step 3: In the search bar shown below, enter the search key hardware-accelerated video decode and hit Enter as shown below.
Step 4: From the context manager, choose Enabled.
Step 5: Now, click on the Relaunch button to relaunch the application.
Check if this helps. If not, try out the next fix listed.
Fix 3: Update the GPU drivers
Step 1: Hold the keys Windows+R at the same time.
Step 2: In the Run dialog that opens up, enter the below command and hit Enter.
devmgmt.msc
Step 3: Now, double-click on the Display Drivers.
Step 4: Right-click on the required Display Driver and choose Update Driver.
Step 5: In the window that shows up, click on Search Automatically for Drivers.
Step 6: You will be notified if the drivers are to be updated. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
Step 7: Once the drivers are updated, restart the system.

Fix 4: Uninstall and Reinstall Google Chrome
Step 1: Hold the keys Windows+R to open the Run Dialog.
Step 2: Enter the below command and press Enter.
appwiz.cpl
Step 3: In the Program and Features window that shows up, locate Google Chrome and right-click on it.
Step 4: Choose Uninstall. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the uninstallation process.
Step 5: Click on the Google Chrome Download link
Step 6: Click on the Download button.
Step 7: Once the download is complete, run the installer and complete the installation process.
Step 8: Now, open the videos and check if the issue has been resolved.
