The Email handlers, present on your OS, browser decides what to do when you tap an email address link. Now, when you click an email link on the Chrome browser, you may have noticed that it is not opening up in Gmail. The reason behind is this is very simple. Why the email links are not opening up on Gmail?
There can be two reasons why the email links are not directly opening up on Gmail. One of the obvious reasons is that the Gmail is not set as the current handler of the email links on Google Chrome. If the handler is set to a different email client, Gmail won’t show up by default. Then there is the other reason where the email handler is set to Gmail, but it is corrupted or functioning correctly.
Whatever is the reason in your case, you can fix it just by managing the email handler on the Gmail. But, before you do that, you must delete the existing handler link on the Chrome settings.
Fix – Delete the handler and set the Gmail handler
You can remove the Gmail handler from the Chrome settings and reset the Gmail handler settings.
Step 1 – Open the Google Chrome, if it isn’t opened yet.
Step 2 – Now, paste this in the web address and hit Enter.

Step 3 – In the handler settings, try to find any Gmail-related entry. If you can find it, that means that the handler has blocked Gmail request
Step 4 – Tap the three-dot button beside the mail entry, tap “Remove“.
After you have removed it, you can reset the handler to Gmail again.
Step 5 – Now, go to a new tab and open up the Gmail.
Step 6 – Log in to your account and reach your inbox page. Now, on the address bar, you will find this button on the right side.
Step 7 – Tap that once.
Step 8 – Now, choose the “Allow” option there to allow it.
Step 9 – Tap “Done” to save it.
Once you have allowed it, the email handler will now get set to Gmail. All the links that you tap now will be opened on Gmail.
