Having some flickering issues on your Microsoft Teams app? Some of the users have complained of this problem and where is Microsoft Teams forums. Majority of the users have experienced this problem while they are on video calls or while attending meetings on the Teams app. This problem can be linked to the camera settings on the Teams app, or due to the hardware acceleration settings as well.
Fix 1 – Change the camera settings on teams
Camera settings on teams can influence the flickering problem. So, you must make some changes in the device settings of teams.
Step 1 – Open up the Microsoft Teams app. Then, click the three dot button in the top right corner and tap Settings.
Step 2 – When the teams app opens up, go to the Devices menu from there.
Step 3 – On the right-hand side of the screen, you can find the Camera settings.
Step 4 – Open up the camera properties there. Now you have to make some changes in the camera settings. Like, the power line frequency value (50 or 60 Hz, depending upon country you are in).
Step 5 – Additionally, if you have an autofocus settings in camera, you should disable that.
Save the changes in the camera settings of Microsoft Teams app.
Once you have changed the settings, test it out directly on the preview console there on the team settings page.
Fix 2 – Disable the hardware acceleration in new Teams
The hardware exploration, when turned on in Microsoft Teams, can behave erratically and cause issues like screen flickering.
NOTE – Disabling or enabling hardware acceleration was easy in older version of Microsoft Teams. You won’t find the dedicated option in the new version of Microsoft Teams.
So, you must take a different approach here.
Step 1 – Quit the Teams app. Then, click the arrow button on the taskbar and look for the Microsoft Teams icon there.
Step 2 – Right-click the Microsoft Teams app icon and tap Quit Teams to close it.
Step 3 – So, open the run box. Paste it there and click OK.

Step 4 – Find the “desktop.json” file there. Open it up from there.
[The actual location can differ. For example, this is the standard location where you will find this file –
C:\Users\username\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\desktop-config.json

Step 4 – There, find the setting called appPreferenceSettings.
Step 5 – Look for this property in there –
"appPreferenceSettings":{ ... ,"disableGpu":true, ...}
Step 6 – You have to just change the flag to ‘false‘ value. So, it should look like this –
"appPreferenceSettings":{ ... ,"disableGpu":false, ...}
After you have made this change, the hardware acceleration will be disabled on your Microsoft Teams app.
Fix 3 – Try from a different device
Microsoft Teams is widely available across various platforms and devices. So, if you’re having flickering issue, you should try to attend that meeting from a different device. Just log in to your MS Teams account from your other device and check whether this works.
