Discord microphone not working on iPhone [Solved]

Recently most iPhone users are complaining about an issue with their iPhones where the Discord app microphone suddenly stopped working. It is causing great discomfort for iPhone users who use the Discord app to interact with their friends and other gamers.

After analyzing, we found the reasons behind the Discord microphone not working issue and some of them are listed below.

Preliminary Fix

Restart your iPhone

Sometimes because of slight technical bugs within the iPhone, it might cause such problems as the Microphone suddenly has stopped working, etc. Many iPhone users have tried resolving this issue by restarting their iPhones once.

So we suggest to our users also try restarting their iPhones and see if this works for them. To do so first, they need to shut down the iPhone by going to Settings > General > Shut Down. Now follow the onscreen instructions to shut down safely.

After it is shut down completely, press and hold together the volume up and power buttons till the Apple logo appears on the iPhone screen. This restarts your iPhone.

Fix 1 – Allow Access to the Microphone for the Discord app

Usually, for any application to use the iPhone’s feature, it needs to have access in order to use it. So check whether the Discord app has access to the microphone on your iPhone and if not, please allow access using the steps explained below.

Step 1: Firstly, you need to open the Settings app on your iPhone.

Step 5: This grants access to Discord app for using the microphone on your iPhone.

Fix 2 – Disable the Bluetooth option on your iPhone

If you have turned on the Bluetooth feature on your iPhone, there are chances that your iPhone might have got connected to some Bluetooth device around. This causes the microphone and speaker on your iPhone to become inactive.

So try disabling the Bluetooth option by following the steps below.

Step 1: First of all, launch the Settings app on your iPhone by tapping on the settings icon from the home screen.

Step 2: Now select the Bluetooth option by tapping on it once as shown below.

Step 3: Once it opens, disable the Bluetooth option by tapping on its toggle switch.

This disables the Bluetooth feature on your iPhone and disconnects from any Bluetooth device.

Fix 3 – Update your Discord app

Some iPhone users claimed that they fixed this issue on their iPhones by updating the Discord app. Sometimes it happens that many major issues related to the application were caused because of outdated applications on the iPhone.

So try updating the Discord app using the steps below.

Step 1: For this, you need to open the App Store on your iPhone.

Step 2: Once the App Store opens, tap on the Search option at the bottom panel as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 3: Now type discord in the search bar at the top of the App Store window.

Step 4: Open the Discord page on your App Store.

Step 5: If the Discord page displays Open, it means the app is at its latest version.

Step 6: If it shows Update, please tap on it and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update process.

Step 7: After the update is done, close the App Store and check whether the issue still remains or not.

Fix 4 – Change the Voice Settings on the Discord app

Many Discord users have found that changes done to some voice settings on their Discord app fixed this problem and we have explained below in this method on what and how you can do those changes on your Discord app.

Step 1: You have to open the Discord app on your iPhone by tapping on the Discord icon from the home screen.

Step 2: Once it opens, tap on the Profile icon(Smiley) at the bottom right side of the Discord app window as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 3: Then you need to scroll down the page to the App Settings section.

Step 4: Select the Voice option from the list under the App Settings section.

Step 5: On the Voice page, enable the Auto Sensitivity option by tapping on its toggle button.

Step 6: Scroll down a bit and enable the Echo Cancellation option under the Voice Processing section by clicking its toggle switch as shown below.

Step 7: Now make sure you have to select Krisp from the Noise Suppression list.

Step 8: After doing that, turn on the Automatic Gain Control and Advanced Voice Activity options under the Krisp section at the bottom.

Fix 5 – Clear the Discord app’s Cache

If the data such as cache, etc., got corrupted on the Discord app on your iPhone, it might cause such problems and to rectify it, you simply have to clear the cache by following the steps explained below.

Step 1: Launch the Discord app on your iPhone by tapping on the Discord icon from the home screen.

Step 2: After Discord is launched, tap on the Profile icon at the bottom right side of the Discord app window as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 3: Now you have to scroll down the page open to its bottom.

Step 4: Here you will find the option to clear the Discord app’s cache.
