Does the microphone not working properly on the Messenger app on your iPhone? Microphone is an essential part of any messaging application. Messenger is not an exception in this department. Though you can send text messages to others, the experience remains unfulfilled due to absence of microphone. So, if you are in this position of looking out for a solution to troubleshoot the microphone problem on Messenger, these solutions should be of help.
Fix 1 – Allow Microphone access to Messenger
You have to edit the microphone settings on the Messenger application.
Step 1 – Just open up the Settings page.
Step 2 – Next, go to the “Apps” category.
Step 3 – Locate the “Messenger” app among all the other apps installed on your iPhone.
Step 4 – Later, open it up.
Step 5 – Look for the “Microphone” permission there*.
Step 6 – Make sure it is turned On.
*NOTE – If you can’t find the ‘Microphone’ in the Settings page, you can follow these steps –
1. Minimize the Settings page.

This will initiate the microphone permission pop-up for the Messenger app. Tap the “Allow” button to allow the usage of microphone.

Fix 2 – Permit messenger through Content restrictions
If you have Content & Privacy Restrictions in place, you must allow the Microphone permission for the Messenger app.
Step 1 – Load up the Settings home page.
Step 2 – Open up the “Screen Time” settings.
Step 3 – Load up the “Content Privacy & Restrictions” section.
Step 4 – Load up the “Microphone” settings page.
Step 5 – Switch on the “Allow Changes” mode.
Step 6 – Turn on the “Messenger” option, if it isn’t already.
Now, there shall be no problem for the Messenger app to use the microphone on your iPhone.
Fix 3 – Force reboot the iPhone
Force-restart the iPhone to fix this microphone issue in the Messenger app.
Step 1 – You can initiate the process by closing all the current apps on your iPhone.
Step 2 – Later, press-release the Volume Up key for once.
Step 3 – Next, do the same thing to the Volume Down key.
Step 4 – Finally, press-hold the Power button to force-restart the iPhone. Keep the pressure on the power button until the screen turns black and the Apple logo shows up.
After the iPhone reboots, check whether this resets the Push Notifications issue.
Fix 4 – Update the Messenger app
Update the Messenger app, if an update is already pending.
Step 1 – Open up the App Store.
Step 2 – Then, type “messenger” in the search box.
Step 3 – Later, open up the “messenger” from the search results.
Step 4 – Tap the “Update” to update the Messenger app.
