Earlier if any user wanted to transfer any files / folders to another device, they had to use pen drive(USB device) for data transfer. Now, Windows has a new feature called Nearby Sharing, which allows you to check in with your Microsoft account and sync with other nearby devices through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. This is by far the simplest way to exchange data with nearby devices. Not only can users share data, but they can also receive files from other nearby devices. If you wish to modify the saving location for files received via nearby sharing, this post will show you how in 2 methods.
How To Modify Save location in Nearby sharing in Windows 11 Using Settings app
Step 1: Press Windows + I keys together to open Settings app.
Step 2: Click System on the left side of the window.
Step 3: Then Scroll the page and click Nearby sharing on the right side as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 4: Click Change button to modify it.
Step 5: Then, Select the folder in the pop up window where you want to save the received files via nearby sharing (For Eg: Desktop)
Step 6: Close the Settings window after changing the save location in nearby sharing.

How To Modify Save location in Nearby sharing in Windows 11 Using Registry Editor
Step 1: Press windows + R keys together to open Run dialog box.
Step 2: Type regedit in the run box and hit the Enter key.
Step 3: Click Yes on the UAC prompt to continue.
Step 4: Copy and Paste the following path given below in the empty address bar and hit theĀ Enter key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CDP
Step 5: Select the CDP registry key on the left side of the window.
Step 6: Double click on the NearShareFileSaveLocation string value on the right side.
NOTE:- If it is missing, then create a string value under CDP registry key by right click and selecting New > String value and renaming it to NearShareFileSaveLocation.
Step 7: Enter the path to the folder where you want to save the received files. (For Eg:- Desktop)
Click OK to make changes.
Step 8: Close the Registry Editor and restart your system.
Henceforth all the received files via nearby sharing are saved in the new location selected.
