Your shared location not getting updated in Google Maps and you are looking for a quick resolution. If that is the case and the location is not updating according to your movement, it needs some fixing. The problem lies within the location settings or permission for the Google Maps on the iPhone.
Fix 1 – Change the Google Maps permission
You have to change the Google Maps permission from the app settings page.
Step 1 – Begin by opening the Settings page. There, go to the “Apps” tab at the bottom.
Step 2 – After opening the Apps tab, find the “Google Maps” app in there.
Step 3 – After opening the Google Maps app, open the “Location” option.
Step 4 – Next, make sure the “Always” option is selected there.
This should fix the Google Maps live location sharing issue. Check whether the data is still updating or not.
[*If you can’t find the ‘Location Permission’ there, do this –
1. Open the Google Maps once.
2. Tap the “location icon” to get the location prompt.
Now, follow the steps on your mobile to provide the location permissions. Later, you can return to the main steps to take the needful.

Fix 2 – Turn off Low Power mode
When the iPhone is in Low Power mode, it can restrict many power-consuming processes, like the Live Location update process on the device.
Step 1 – If your iPhone is using Low Power mode, you can see orange battery icon.
Step 2 – Open the Settings page, if you see the orange bar.
Step 3 – Next, open the “Battery” settings.
Step 4 – Turn off the “Low Power Mode“, if it is turned on.
Turning off the Low Power mod should fix the issue that you are having on the Google Maps app.
Fix 3 – Provide background app refresh
You should allow the Background App Refresh mode for the Google Maps app.
Step 1 – Open the iPhone Settings.
Step 2 – Find the “General” settings in there.
Step 3 – Go ahead and open up the “Background App Refresh” module.
Step 4 – Find the “Google Maps” from the list.
Step 5 – Make sure the “Google Maps” option is also turned on.
The live location won’t stop sharing even when you have put the app running in the background.
Fix 4 – Test the internet connection
The lack of proper, stable internet connection can sever the location sharing process on your iPhone. The location update information is sent to your iPhone via the phone’s network or Wi-Fi. So, if the network is not good or the connection is limited, the location data won’t get updated again.
