Can’t install apps directly on Apple Watch – How to fix

Facing problem installing apps directly on your Apple Watch? With the support for loading apps directly on the watch, it has become a capable device of its own. The ability to download apps directly on the watch from the App Store frees it from the over-dependency on the iPhone or other Apple devices. But, what if you can’t install apps on your Apple Watch directly? These solutions will be of help, if that is the case.

 

Fix 1 – Restart both the device

The first workaround that you may try is to restart both the devices.

Step 1 – Start by pressing the Volume Down and Power Button of the iPhone.

Step 2 – If you hold that for enough time, the ‘Slide to Power Off‘ slider should show up there.

Step 3 – Use it to switch off your iPhone.

Step 4 – On the other hand, press and hold the side button on the Apple Watch.

Step 5 – Very soon, you shall see the power console. Tap the Power button there.

Step 6 – Then, drag the “Power Off” slider to switch off the Apple Watch.

Once you have switched both the devices off, use the same button to start it up. Once it has started up, retry installing the apps directly on the watch.

 

Fix 2 – Force restart your Apple Watch

You can just force restart the Apple Watch to fix this problem.

Step 1 – To execute this procedure, hold up the side button and crown button.

Step 2 – Holding down the buttons for a few seconds, the device will go into reboot mode. The Apple Logo should show up in no time.

When the watch becomes operational once again, you can install apps without any issues anymore.

 

Fix 3 – Refresh the connection

Loading up apps on the Apple Watch does need proper internet connection. So, you should refresh up the connection using Airplane mode.

Step 1 – Just press the side button on the watch once.

Step 2 – Next, tap the “Airplane mode” in there to invoke the flight mode.

Step 3 – Leave the device in airplane mode for a few seconds and then, tap the same icon to turn off the Airplane mode once again.

This operation should refresh the network connection. Later, you can try to download the apps directly on your Apple Watch.

 

Fix 4 – Sign out from Apple ID and sign in

Sign out from the Apple ID briefly and then log into it.

Step 1 – Load up the Settings utility on your iPhone.

Step 2 – Once you are there, tap the Apple ID banner to load it up.

Step 3 – After opening up the Apple ID settings, tap the “Sign out” option.

The logging out process does need the Apple ID password. So, provide it when you are asked to do so.

This should restore the default Settings utility on your iPhone.

Step 4 – There, you can use the “Sign in using your Apple ID” option to sign in to your Apple ID.
