Unable to Turn On Cloud Delivered Protection and Automatic Sample Submission Fix

Many users have noticed an issue wherein they are not able to enable the two features namely Cloud-Delivered Protection and Automatic Sample Submission in Virus and threat protection settings. There is an error message displayed that states “This setting is managed by your administrator” and both the options are greyed out.

Run a Set of Commands to Modify the Registry Via Command Prompt

 

Step 1. Tap on the Windows key on your keyboard and type the text command prompt in the Windows search bar.

Step 2. Right-click on Command Prompt in the Best match search result and choose Run as administrator.

Step 3. Execute the commands mentioned below one after the other.

Copy and paste the command in the command prompt and hit the Enter key. Repeat this for all the commands.

reg delete "HKCU\Software\Policies" /f

reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsStore\WindowsUpdate" /f 

reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost" /f 

reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies" /f 

reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Policies" /f 

reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f 

reg delete"HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsStore\WindowsUpdate" /f 

reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender" /v DisableAntiSpyware

Note: If you see any errors while executing any of the commands, just ignore them and move over to execute the next command.

Step 4. Reboot your computer once all the commands have been executed.

Step 5. After your system starts up, check if you are able to turn on the Cloud-Delivered Protection and Automatic Sample Submission in Virus and Threat protection.
