Opening or accessing images on your computer is probably the easiest task that you can perform on your Windows machine. But, if you get this “Not implemented” error tag while trying to open images on your computer can force you on a lookout for solutions. Users seem to run into this problem after an update to the Photos app. These fixes will help you resolve the issue.
Fix 1 – Try a simple system restart
Just a simple system reboot can temporarily fix the issue for you. While this is a workaround, you can implement it to counter this problem. Just do a system restart, and you can open up the images on the Photos app.

Fix 2 – Use the Photos Legacy app
The previous version of the Photos app may lack a lot of current Photos app, but it won’t offer any such errors.
Step 1 – Search for the “Photos” app and open it up directly.
Step 2 – Next, tap the “⚙️Settings” to load up the Photos settings.
Step 3 – Find the ‘Photos Legacy‘ section, there.
Step 4 – Tap the “Get Photos Legacy” option to get the Photos Legacy app.
Step 5 – This will redirect you to the Microsoft Store page. Tap “Get” under the Microsoft Photos Legacy app to install it.
Once you have installed it, you can use it to view the images using this app.
Fix 3 – Open the image within the Photos app
Instead of trying to open the images directly from the folder, you can open them up from Photos app.
Step 1 – Open up Photos app.
Step 2 – Then, tap the ☰ sign on the left column. Next, tap the folder icon there.
Step 3 – Now, you have to navigate to the folder that contains that images that you want to access.
Step 4 – Finally, select the folder and tap “Select Folder” to load up the folder.
Photos app will automatically import the images from the selected folder. You can later open up the images directly from the Photos app.
Fix 4 – Set the Photos as the default app
You should set the Photos app as the default image viewer application on your device.
Step 1 – At first, open up the Settings console on your machine.
Step 2 – Next, tap the “Apps” on the left-hand pane.
Step 3 – Now, open up the “Default Apps“.
Step 4 – Later, open the “Photos” app.
Step 5 – Next, find the “.jpg” and “.jpeg” extension in the list of file types.
Step 6 – Select the “Photos” app and tap “Set as default“.
Alternatively, if you have come across this problem while working with any other type of image, you can change the default file type to Microsoft Photos as well.
